hey guys im back with the same question but its slightly different.

Wich of these cars would you buy?

ford laser tx3 turbo.

ford tx5 turbo.
or
ford escort (already slightly modded).
or
ford laser 1996-1999?

if anyone views this PLEASE POST!

about 100bhp has been added from what theyve done to it.

Depends on how u want to go. XR5s are pretty cool, but an ecsort with a twincam or something there abouts is way cool.....

yer.. i do like the look of the tx3 laser but the escorts and tx5s arent that far off.
and i know the tx5 will kill almost any stock vl comodore turbo.

yes they do look good but i dont know if i could get one up to around 200bhp without making it unrelyable

FWD TX3
The AWD is ok, but a bit heavier. The FWD is a bit average for the launches, but will pull harder at speed.

Ill say the stock laser. Its a newer car and would be alot more reliable then the other two!

What model TX3 Turbo the KE FWD or 4WD or the KF/KH that was only 4WD?
The KF/KH TX3 would be my pick of the late model bunch but the Escort is a completely different car a lot of fun with a rorty engine & RWD but classics have their own compromises, it really boils down to what gets your rocks off.

TX5 Turbo. But I'm biased. Drop in the JDM N/A Engine and you have a ripper! The JDM N/A engine has more power N/A than the Aus spec does turbo. Then if you want to go hard bolt on a turbo. You will get in 13 secs and possibly 12s.

Convertine an N/A engine to Turbo (compression, cam(s) etc etc)... why? Much simpler and wiser to just work with the already-turbocharged engine if that's what you're after. If you're gonna do such an engine swap, don't bother buying a TX5 Turbo, buy a cheaper, regular TX5.

Id say the TX3 turbo. They've been tried and tested, and the twin lights still look pretty special. Most workshops know them inside out, but not every man and his dog have one.

Get a jap spec Familia GTX engine in there (very popular mod), don't think theres a need for it to be engineered, just a blue slip, and easily a 14 sec car.

Exactly, going by the first post he has a budget of around $4500-5000 so a cheaper to modify car will be a lot better me thinks.

A regular TX5 should be about $2500?

cant let that one slide..a VLT will kill a TX3 or TX5.

I wouldn't buy an AWD TX3 simply because they (the driver) kill their g'box's way to often.

Turbo TX5's handle like poo, and torque steer to much.

And esky is the way to go if you like old school.

FWD TX3's are pretty good, but again g'box's have issues.

If I was you I would get the newest stock laser you can and maintain it. because at the end of the day you are not going to be that quick in a TX3/TX5 anwyay; its not worth the hassle or the cash.

Well mate, i would go with a 99 laser. I seen what you can put these cars through and they so reliable, great resale. Dont chew much juice. My parents had a 1999 laser they bought new. It did 115,000km over 5 years and traded it for 11500 still last year. It did 75000 of those km on dirt road, and i talking rought dirt road. It never missed a beat and chewed about a tank of fuel (50 odd litres) from 700-850km.

ooo sorry mate but i think your wrong. all front wheel drives with the power of the tx5 will do the same. It depends on the driver not the car for that.
and they dont handle like pooh because the tx5 giah came out with adjustable suspention.(soft medium or hard)

A lot if buses have adjustable suspension as well. Doesn't mean they handle well.
