Nice Futura you've picked up Galea, I have to say sparkling burgandy is the best color ford has had. Welcome to the forum, i'm sure you'll enjoy the AU!
Cheers, Adrian

This thread has been cleaned up. I would like to apologise to John for some of the members behaviour (was it a full moon or something?) and congratulate him on what looks to be a very pristine example of an AU!
(next time I'll just clean up the users for a few days rather than buggerise around with the thread I think... clear on what I mean guys?)

Thanks guys, i wasn't sure I was going to stay with the forum after the "interesting" content but seems like all is back on track.
i gave the new girl a full detail today and was really surprised just how well the paintwork came up! I will be sure to try to ad as much as I can to this forum as well as hopefully getting some useful information on the way also. Thanks again guys. BTW how do I change my forum ID? I did not realise my full name would be used on the pages I am on. :togo: |

I had an AU1 XR8 as can be seen in my sig below. Very very good car. Ultra reliable and built tough. I would often carry big loads with zero hassle. However after some spirited driving I did find the brakes a bit on the weak side. But a decent set of slotted discs and good pads should go some ways to fixing that up. Even in stock form the AU was a step up from the commodore I was driving in regard to brakes.
I had no rust problems what so ever. I maintain my cars thouroughly, almost obsessively. |

No but it was a country car and I'm assuming that dirt, leaves, dust and the like caused this as it proberly wasn't cleaned regulary enough, any way I found a beauty as seen in my little pic with a bit of rust under the bonnet where the chrome decal for the grill is, this will be relativly easy to repair as access is easy, so its no biggy.
