What about these 2
http://www.drive.com.au/used-cars/FORD/PROBE/Melbourne/detail.aspx?id=3149953&pg=1&pp=1&d=0&nv=1
http://www.drive.com.au/used-cars/FORD/PROBE/Melbourne/detail.aspx?id=3078757&pg=1&pp=3&d=0&nv=1

They run a MX6 drive line, which fro the most part do have very few problems.

Or something from europe

Hey Jade stay away from the Barina's they have very poor results in crash tests....

I like the Ford Lazer's, Mazda's, and the Corrolla....

Like I said let me test drive it.....

If I can break it you dont want it LOL....

That model (Barina SRi) is known for poor g/box strength. The higher hp engine is too much for the box and severly shortens it's lifespan. I used to know a bloke who owned one, bought from new didn't drive it hard but drove spirited. He suffered 3 box failures which were all sorted under warranty. I'm pretty sure he sold the car soon after the 3rd box was done and bought a Nissan S15 (new).

The aboves the same body shape of mazda I'd consider in the mazda range. Not necessarity a SP20. They also come with a 1.6lt engine and 1.8lt. Mine has the 1.8lt twin cam.

I'm not sure a SP20 would fall in the 11k budget either?

Since they share the same engine family (4G-original engine is a 4G93) it's an easy enough swap. I have read somewhere some have put MIVEC heads on their engines. Would be an awesome sleeper! :P
Unfortunately the stock Satria GTi will easily get blown away by a 2.0 Laser or Focus, an Astra or a Corolla. Doubtful that the engine swap would be worth the effort for a first car though!

This is daughter No1's '94 KJ Laser , a few of her friends have 2 doors and she reckons it's a real pain to get in/out of . So she's a 4 door fan .

This one is a 1.8 , twin overhead cam , 16 valve , EFI . Great little car , as others have said , "other cars will blow them away" , they aren't quick off the line but will cruise all day and really comfortable to drive , last time I looked it's got 220 - 230,000 k's and still runs like a dream .

I definatly would suggest the Ba astina like ea_silver_ghia suggested they have electric windows and mirrors etc the 1.8 dohc is a great motor or u could hunt down a 2.0 v6 model. They are around $6,000 - $9000 so u should be able to find a great condition one below what u want to spend.
The probe is a nice car but thirst on fuel from what i have heard

Yeah just got carried away there. Performance aside though they are nice cars. Its very rare I see an Astra or Corolla lining up for a traffic light GP : . I personally would get a N15 SSS if I wanted to do quick.

Let 'em dream. Thiis thread has brought them out of the woodwork.

I like the look of the Laser Lynx and ye olde Laser is very reliable. Agree with Mazda and the Toota. I'd look at a Focus - might just scrape a good one in. Or just get an old VW, rip the roof off, paint it pink, deck it out with a leather interior and throw a couple of hotdogs on it.

Price neg, urgent sale, make an offer etc.

At this stage young daughter, i am leaning towards either a Focus, Lancer, Mazda or Laser.
And if you behave we can take the coupe.

I think your Dad is on the money Jade Proton Sartria's may look good in your opinion but people in the past said that about the Aston Martin Vanquishes and you'd be lucky to start one on a good day (ok i know its an extreme comparison but its the principal )
