Default transmission problems

Hey guys, i did a search but couldn't really find much.

My auto ute seems to be stuck in 3rd gear which i would assume means its in limp home mode but also its having trouble changing up through the gears, it only just started yesterday afternoon so i thought maybe one of the electrical plugs got loosened. Doesn't seem to be the case, i put the ute up on the ramps and gave the contacts a clean, still is doing the same thing.
According to the service book, it had a trans service not that long ago so i'm stumped

any ideas would be appreciated

solenoids and all things electrical in the trans can fail at anytime the s5 usually will develop a bump or harsh shift into second gear particularly when the trans is hot before it totally dies the best way to tell whats wrong is to take the car some where that you can get a computer scan to see what the problem is dont worry about driving the car you wont damage the trans limp home mode is designed to prevent that keep us posted
cheers

My old DC LTD died suddenly one day with no indication of a fault.
It would still go in reverse 1st and 3rd only but wouldn't select 2nd and 4th.
It turned out to be one of the bands in the auto and I had to have it rebuilt.

If your speed sensor is faulty it will also cause limp home mode

How many kms has it done? I would service it again just to make sure it has been done, while they are there they can inspect/test the shift solenoids as well.

Does your auto slip a little when cold? Mine does so when my mechanic serviced it he put an additive in to rejuvinate the rubber seals, but all this does is just hide the fact that I need a full rebuild :(

its done 156000 kays and have never had any problem at all with it, going to take it down to ford tomorrow, see what they say...if its gonna cost too much i'll seriously consider a manual conversion.

Gotta see the bright side of things huh?
