t5's aren't exactly that strong. i would go the t56 out of a ba xr6t. bolt straight on to the motor but you would need to modify the crossmember, tail shaft, and the t56 clutch system uses a hydraulic actuated sysem. your car might to depending on year of manufacture.

I think you might have to look at your driving style!!
137 rwkws and your blowing up a T5Z? Too much hard driving and abuse i reckon... They arent very strong, but still you see a fair bit of power being put through them and they are still living. You will blow up a T56 if you abuse it too... |

I drive it very hard, harder than most. But not hard enough to kill a T5z. I didnt buy a sports sedan to drive it like grandma on sunday like a fair few do, I have a feeling its a fault, but it will be put to blame on abuse so it wont get fixed under warranty. Most mechanics are dodgy like that.
Since having the T5z ive never crunched 3rd, dumped it into 3rd or anything like that. 1st and 2nd took most of the punishment 4000rpm launches, and flatchanging, I expected them to eventually go, but not 3rd. Half the time I dont even use 3rd, I go 1st, 2nd to 4th and cruise. Like I said I think the brass button clutch is just too hard for these weak pathetic excuses for a gearbox. Im actually considering going for a strengthened auto with stally and shift kit. Might actually last, If another box goes, its bye bye to the fords and i'll actually get something built tough. The T5's I can get for around the $700, or a new one for $950 so i'll prob get one tomorrow, just means the edit and extractors are put off for longer. |

Au3xr6, thanks mate, so far the only post towards helping me get a box, but unfortunately Ive tried them, and finding a T5 for an AU is harder than it sounds.
Ive got 2 places at the moment that can do me a T5 for an AU. 1 wants $700 and the other wants $950.. some places wanted upto 1800 to rebuild mine. See what happens tomorrow. |

Open it up and maybe look into rebuilding it. It might be cheaper then buying another gearbox? and plus you know it has been rebuilt.
