How can u tell if a early mdl S1 XR6 is HP or not, did they all come out either HP or VCT or did some get a hybrid(upgrade of the EL)?

the HP has the tickford wings on the front of the head also you will have adaptive shift (no pwr/econ switch) as this is part of the HP ECU
|

The easiest way to tell... Dun Dun Dun!!! VCT's have VCT on the rocker cover don't they?

okay my mate has one who "has asat a shift but i cant find any wings on the block?

If it's an XR6 it can only be VCT or HP... If it's not VCT, it's HP...

if its a VCT it will have a plug going into the front of the head of the engine - i.e. stand at the front of the car, look at the engine,if there's a thing going into the centre of it with the tickford wings on it, its a VCT.
If its just a HP engine, it will have a red rocker cover and otherwise look like a normal engine.

No AU's had a "hybrid" setup. If its a TRUE XR6 HP it will have the wings on the front of the head, an adaptive auto (if its auto) meaning no switch on the trans tunnel and Tickford wings on the dash.

That's what it is. But he aint got the wings on the front of the head it has adapt a shift LSD it also has no tickford wings on the air intake
