damn mate, that sucks. why anyone would want to steal a factory unit is beyond me!
I agree with HLC though, an aftermarket unit would be a better option. They sound better as well.

If you do a search you will find a few threads talking about how bad the factory stackers are. I had a pioneer 6 stacker in my EL and I loved it. I would also suggest an aftermarket one but it's up to you.

depending on replacement value/cost ... maybe look into an after market unit ... even DVD player could be an option? ...

Some factory units are troublesome - some not - just luck of the draw. I've had several now and only one played up.

If you want to keep the original factory appearance and are happy with the Ford unit then go for it.

How are the lowlifes going to crack the code? They have to go through a Ford dealer so contact all your nearby dealers and warn them of the possibility of someone coming in to ask for the code but who don't have the VIN of a car. If the dealer staff are alerted you never know, the scum might just get caught this way.

When I pulled mine out the code was written on the top of it, great security.

Same with my old one out of the ute ... was written on a sticker on the top of the unit. What's the use of having a code except to annoy you when the battery dies.

I think every car I've bought has either had the code written on the unit itself, or in the log books in the glovebox - not much of a deterrent - although being factory units, that should be deterrent enough!

i've got a 6 stacker sitting in a box doing nothing. located in melbourne though so i'm tipping postage would be a bit. they're weighty little things! pm me if you are interested. but as said in above threads, you'd probably be better off putting a single din aftermarket job in. much easier to operate...
