Hey,
Since we all now know that the I6 will be gone in 3 years, would you agree that the Typhoon will become a collectors item? The I6 turbo has to be the most amazing engine Australia has ever built IMO. It's a sad day.

The last of the I6 Typhoons will be I think. You'll never see a car like them again, ever.

No. They arn't a limited run. They are just a Turbo 6. There are so many on the road today, they arn't unique.

Not unique yes, but who in 1988 thought the VL turbo would become such a highly sought after car?

The whole I6 thing has blown up so much that it's becomming stupid!!! YES it is a good motor but the V6 that is replacing it is every bit as good and will have just as much power and better economy and yes it will come in turbo variants!!! If you took the time to read what is happening and what it is being replaced with none of the model line up will be affected, including the Typhoon or xr6t!!

Smart people have been saying they are the modern day GTHO for a while now, from a collectable/investment point of view at least not to mention the performance potential ;)

The problem with all thse 'Future Classics' is the marketers at all the car companies know the buttons to push to sell a new vehicle but collector cars are generally 20+ years old and on there 3rd or more owner before the particular niche becomes desired.
I think the Foon will have cult status 1, as its a good car 2, there easy to make real fast, so when they are years old they will be worth a lot more than there equivalent, but not HO money, PS: why is a HO worth more than a 300SL gullwing Mercedes. or more that three times a Boss 302 mustang?

Does anyone really think that if the first owners of GTHOs knew what they would be worth, they would have sold them? They knew as much about the future as we do, that is bugger all...... |

VL Turbo's are sought after but hardly at a GT like status. Maybe give it some years and they will.. But the big dollar GT's are the ones that are unmolestered and what not, so if you save for the phoon you better be happy to have it wasting away in a garage locked up, in which time you could probably save the same amount of money you'd get for it in future if you were smart AND you'd get to enjoy a nice car.

I think they will more so then a VL due to reliability plus the jap imports really killed off the VL's, although I'm biased because I own one.....
But the F6 and to a lesser extent XRT should last forever they are pretty strong in the engine and the driveline department plus they sound better than V6's..... : |

I'll vote the F6 becoming a collector item, simply a magic car.

The first Typhoons (BA Mk2) had only about 520 built, I can't remember the exact number. That's less than the XR GT

I would never say Typhoon will be HO material, but it is a cult vehicle and I do see it as being something special in the future. For example, one day a TX3 AWD came into work black and only about 40k on the clock, orginial as! You just looked at it saying man I wouldn't mind owning that! And you would pay a stupid price for an old car. Even though there is stuff out there way better then it. I'm looking at it as more of a vehicle that Ford only build and no one else did. If you get what I mean. I am not meaning a Typhoon will bring in +$750K one day!

Sort after, because I think it'll be cheaper in 10 years (that's if the twin turbo V6 turns out to be a barn stormer also).
It'll be a great car to pick up and mod. A collectors item ? Not for a long time. The production numbers are fairly high compared to GTHO's aswell. |

Though, V8 or not. Seeing the GTHO's going around Bathurst was something iconic, same as the XA-C coupes. Even VL's have a nissan engine that was a great racer. The typhoon is a tough street car but it's not supercar material IMO and won't be pulling big $$ for quite a while. And lets face it, the current crop are hardly as bulletproof as the old falcons, they're already rusting and falling apart after 3 years, imagine what they'll be like after 30 years of abuse!

I think they'll be sought after, but not as much as a GTHO Phase III... Even I, a 14yo 'boy' would like an old-school-cool HO!

Almost 2 years old this is my daily driver 32,000klm, been driven to Sydney 6 times had many dyno runs and around 60, 1/4 mile passes. My Auto and motor haven't been touched, valve springs have been replaced as at 340rwkw we heard issues. Also had the compliment from Luke Youlden and Steven White saying it was the quickest FPV they have driven around Sandown... Abuse and lots of it...all this and A/C too.. When it goes $4000 buys you a 600kw bottom end..
