Gooday guys,
I'm new to this as i have recently just purchased an xr6 105 km's on the clock. Car is in reasonably good nik, it has been lowered, has extractors, and a full exhaust system. Getting used to the clutch which seems to stick a bit but just wondering has any one expierenced a rear knocking whilst sometimes clutching and acceleration? and also if anyone could help me out with some mods to do engine wise to improve performance other then what has been done! cheers! |

I have been told the Knocking is from Rear worn bushes. Not sure on costs to fix.
Next mods would be Chip or CAI. Have a read of this... http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=47997

Could be driveline backlash if it is only happening under acceleration and engaging the clutch.

Also check your wheel bearings, I had an intermittent knock in the rear, thought it was probably the shock mounts which were fine, ended up being one of the rear wheel bearings.

This is probably relevant to this post. A young mate of mine who owns an AU ute asked me to look at his car last night. He said he had a squeeking noise coming from his back right hand wheel. When I looked at it he had taken a big chip out of his 15 inch mag wheel the size of a 50 cent piece. When he drives it it squeeks like each rotation of the wheel. As in squeek squeek etc. I jacked the car up and could hardly turn the wheel. Any thoughts. Could it be just the rear bearing or do you think it may be a bent agle. He told me later that he had been doing a bit of gutter jumping. Could be an expensive lesson
