Default AUII XR6 front air dam distorted

I've to replace the air dam on the front of my 2000 XR6 because it drop off at high speed and tucked under the front of the car! I'm only talking about the sort of flat black plastic? panel that fits right under the front and directs air flow through the radiator. Thing is that the body/bumper part that it attaches to seems to be warped and distorted and the new one doesn't seem to fit that well. It seems that these plastic bumper/air dams are not that robust. Anyone got any ideas for stiffening the whole thing up?

They can really be stiffened up as such, ubless the are bolted to the bumper with speed clips, and bolts, or decent sized self tappers. Or the alternative is to get rid of it all together. I drove around without one for almost 12 months, and it didnt seem to affect anything that much......

They do do something, but mainly for the 8's. I've put mine on with self tappers and it does the job well.

I know the tray you are talking about, and the same thing happened. Problem was the air flowing through the mouth onto that tray was creating so much downforce, it literally ripped the screws right out of the plastic. The plastic is very soft.

I've just left it off for now. Doesn't seem to really do anything useful, the car is still running at the right temp, not much, if any downforce/handling has changed.

When I get my replacement front bar (current one is foobar) I may think of putting it back on, purely for aesthetics/restoration reasons
