Default Cobra 302kw $$

Now maybe I am a bit one eyed because I just bought a new GT-P but with regards to the reduced cost of the Cobra, from what I hear is only a basic GT with stripes and the 302kw is not much different from my 290. Once you spec the cobra up with the premium brakes and pay the luxury car tax I think your around $77k, and dealers wont give you a cent off, I think I am happy with my GT-P. Is it worth the $$ I dont know?

You did well! The CObras are around $72 plus the big brakes, so about $77 drive away, plus they dont have the better seats or reverse sensors.

Do your homework too before buying, the GT-P and GT may have the 302KW motor pretty soon...

It's more than 12kws and stripes. It's got the R-Spec suspension, exclusive 19 inch wheels, exclusive leather interior, limited build number and a few more bits and pieces. It's a pretty good investment and well worth the money, the normal GTs are just bargains for their selling price anyway.

i beleive the Cobra's are just that - investments. What is the added Nm of the Cobra anyone?

Buying a Cobra over a GT or GTP for that matter for me is a investment decision not a performance one. Not that I own either, but that would be THE only reason for me in my life to own a Cobra. the Cobra is exclusive, limited edition and rare and if it takes another 30years to release another one like it from ford then those who own a new cobra now will be laughing when the prices go up.

The GT's & GTP's however are still an awesome buy for those looking for that thrill. But I would never buy one for the investment. Sentiment would be the only reason I would keep it.

While FPV still produce GT's, I beleive they are under the same fate of depreciation a BA XT is. Although not as high.

these are just my thoughts, dont flame me.

I certainly dont disagree with you on the GT's depreciation but when it comes down to it I think there are only a few investment cars really if you wanna invest, stay away from cars (or be lucky). Thing is owning a GT is something pretty special, nothing more nothing less.

Well I agree with ya mate. Those who are lucky enough to own any genuine GT would feel privelidged. Its certainly nothing to shy away from and frankly if I could afford to I'd buy one myself.

Reminds me Dave, when do I get to drive yours :P

Prices is actually $71,500 and over the GT-P in 3 years what would have a higher re sale? With out brake up grade but dont want that anyway. Guess it would be the Cobra? I am not buying one as an investment and would never do so with a new car. The extra 12kw? Proberly would never notice it but looks good on the bonnet though!!!!!

Sold to dealers as dealer allocated sales but not to owners. So still available to those with cash now, but from what I have heard, get in quick.

I understand the COBRA will have 540Nm....a higher redline, new camshafts, valves and valve springs as well as revised engine management.

Hmmm $120k buy it now. Pretty good short-term investment if he gets it.

You'd reckon 12kw and 20nm would be noticeable, though it's almost a crime to even drive a Cobra, it's a moving goldmine.

the orion is rumoured to be getting around the 320kw mark so i assume also that they have done the basic groundwork to make the upgrade a lot easier in the future. otherwise i can't see the need for the higher compression, diff cams and remapped ecu as they could've got the 12kw required to make 302kw without changing anything internally on the boss 290.

is there anything obviously different to the look of the motor under the bonnet? i wouldn't think so. now that all fpv's have the 302kw motor, i can see down the track when they hit the 2nd hand market people will have to pay close attention to the build date and spec plate to make sure they are getting what is being advertised.

I don't really care about the Power upgrade although it certainly is a bonus but I would just buy one of these for the looks. I have aloways liked the cobra colours and stripes and thought for many years that Ford need to do something similar to this (maybe not exactly a Cobra) and it looks great.

Also, weren't the old Cobras to get rid of 400 extra body shells?

Maybe This Cobra is a reasearch mule so to speak?

Good on ya Ford just wish I could afFord one.

I'd love a Ute, they just look the goods!!!

3 Blokes in the Coupe Club have secured themselves a Sedan each. I've heard the Sedans are all sold out but some Utes are still available.

Numberplates are starting to appear on e-bay!!

No matter how you look at it, owning a FPV GTP is a wonderful thing. Well done you will love it. Being an Adelaide boy go see David and KPM if you want that extra 12kW's or alot more.

i know of a dealer trying to sell a Cobra sedan to my old man.. but he's not so sure. whether it would be worth the extra $$$ or not. plus he is more interested in what orion FPV's bring at the moment

and what about investment? as it would be a daily...

He should do it. Even if its daily driver, he should at least get his money back should he decide to sell down the track.

4orde -

I recommend placing a new thread up in the Bar or QLD section about this car, as there will be far more interest than just this thread.
