Anyone know what the metal shrouded hole in the mat is for?
I've got the same thing on my floor mats... obviously to hook onto something, but what? |

They usually come with the mats. Just help in securing the mats to the floor so they don't slide

Just had a look and my passenger side mat doesn't have the holes and by the look of the mat it needs it more than the drivers side. |

Ron,
Aunger have a mat locking kit for about $5 which will do the job for the front mats. It takes 5 minutes to do. Kmart, Supercheap, Big W etc, etc will have them. Cheers, GK

I've had locking plugs in the SR since I bought it, no mat movement at all. Terrific!
The wagon didn't have them, mats going all over the shop, bunching up etc, etc; since I used the locking kit, no worries at all. GK

Only just got back from swapping cars with someone who needs a few k's run up (don't ask what... it has embarrassment factor of 9.5) so didn't get a chance for a pic of mat mod, lol. The passengers mat had a fold in about the centre. All I did was to get a 300mm x 300mm piece of masonite and glue it to the floor side of the mat (with contact adhesive). I then stuck a couple of strips of velcro (available in a roll from Bunnings etc) onto the masonite to hold the mat in place. The humourous bit is that I couldn't find my saw so I just broke the masonite at the appropriate measurements. Unfortunately it looks as though a rat with a missing tooth has been at it... |
