I rang up the dealership where I bought my car from today to book it in for a service, hard to believe I've had her for 20,000km's already!
Now, due to the warranty needing to be done every 10,000k's since I bought it, this service will be at ~98,000 (the 88,000 one I had done at the local mechanic due to it creeping up on me so quickly and needing one done to keep warranty in check). I thought I would let Ford do this one as it will be around the 100,000km mark and I realise most cars want a major service around then. However, the guy was a bit vague and I was a bit tired to concentrate totally on what he was saying, but he was saying something along the lines of "the major was due at 95,000", then turned and said "its not due to 105,000". I highly doubt two major services would be due only 10,000km's apart? Its a 2001 AU Series 2 Forte, 6 cylinder Auto, so if somebody could clarify when the actual major is/was due I'd really appreciate it, if it was due at 95,000 I'll get it done as a major next week, if its not due until 105,000 I'll get it done on the 108,000 km service and just have an interim service done next week. Its definitely going to the dealer for the service though, I've lost a little trust in my local after I had my transmission leaking fluid, paid him $110 to service, flush and refill the trans, and its STILL leaking - so I want them to have a look at that for me as well. I know I'll probably be overcharged but I'd rather be safe than have to fork out for a new tranny (or have to claim one on my warranty). Thanks in advance.

Since March 9th this year, she was on 78,000 when I got her and now she's just clicking over onto 98,000.
I thought I was racking up the k's quite quickly to tell the truth.

AU servicing is every 15k with one due at 90k and the next at 105k. IIRC the 90k one was the major.

Looking at my service book 90,000km is the B (major) service. The major then isn't due again until 135,000km and then 180,000km.
Matt. EDIT: Mind you, it only lists the air cleaner and an ECU reset and extra over the A service points. So take what you will from that. |
