Default part numbers relate to date?

Hi guys

do ford part numbers relate to build date
here are some from a digital dash from EA to ED
ED87DA-10849-BC VDO-12023
91DA-10849-KA VDO-12281

YEP one was tooled for manufature in 87 and the other in 91

Just be careful in relation to part numbers stamped on parts, generally they wont work at your local Ford spare parts dept. But still take it down, as the basic number (the number in the middle) will help out a ton in getting the correct part.

IE the clusters basic number in this case is 10849. You would probably find that all clusters for all Falcons would have the same basic number. Usually only the suffix and prefix will chamge during models.

A lot of parts in my XE are stamped 78DA from the XD era like trim bits and dash parts
