Default 283KW V8 Hyundai Sedan, What do you think?

Quote:
Hyundai has officially unveiled the Genesis in its home-market today at a private unveiling in South Korea. The "Showcase" event was exclusive to invited members only including reporters, analysts, high-class doctors and lawyers at the Hyundai-Kia Namyang R&D Center. The event also provided the participants to compare the Genesis to mainstream Mercedes-Benz and BMW models.
The Genesis is packed with premium features including a standard 6-speed AT, also found in the Veracruz. The Korean model will be available with a 3.3L V6 producing 265 horsepower, and a 3.8L V6 producing 305 horsepower. The North American models will receive the 3.8L and a 4.6L Tau V8 that produces a staggering 380 horsepower. This means the Genesis is neck-in-neck with the Lexus LS460 and 18 more horsepower than the Pontiac G8 GT. The Genesis is also featured with Smart Cruise Control (SCC), Adaptive Headlamps, Driver Information System, and a Harman/Becker Lexicon Audio System. Lexicons are currently only found in the Rolls-Royce Phantom. Other goodies include push-start button and electronic stability control.

Good on them I say! Considering the massive progress that Hyundai have made over the last 10 years, it will be very interesting to see where the fit in the market in another 10.

Pretty derivative styling, but perfect for market. Obviously aimed at taking on Lexus GS, Buick and Infiniti G35.

Toyota should seriously watch out, the Hyundai Getz which is old as methusala outsold the Yaris this month. This thing should take off in the states, cant see it going that well here and im pretty sure we wont get it- i remember some Hyundai exec saying that Australia wasnt ready for a 60k Hyundai... yet.

Yes but it's not a hyundai it's a "Genesis". I can see the obvious reasons they have taken the hyundai badges of it but you have to wonder if that will do much for image branding down the track. As said it's a good concept but looks like a slightly confused smaller version of a CLS merc. A car which i was never to fond of in the looks department in the first place.

Pontiac G8 GT(Holden Commodore V8) and Hyundai Genesis will have a very interesting battle in the US.

I'd buy one for the fact that it's a V8 Hyundai and rear wheel drive.

I think the engine in these is from Mitsubishi, like the ones used in Mitsu trucks stateside.

If the price was right, why not?

Beats an Aurion or Accord Euro.

What are the specs on the 4.6L V8???

Pretty embarassing seeing as the Mustang V8 4.6L only churns out 225kw.

Imagine a V8, RWD sedan available for $19,990 drive away at Hyundai : I'd buy 12!!!!

I'd buy one as the Hyundai would be cheaper then the Japanese or German equivalent models.

Ugly styling, so if they can fix that up the 8 will sell. Hyundai are getting better and better.

first thing i thought was, what an UGLY Merc.

i hate it how those asain cars always rip off the euro/american cars, like ssanyong how all their 4wd's are rip off's of Jeeps and their people mover is a exact copy of the voyger, but oh so much uglier.

cant they think of their own design?

I dont mind it at all, Change the wheels. Imagine One in Black with dark tint lowered with big 19's and i think you would all change your mind. Hyundai is slowly increasing the price of there whole range as people become more comfortable with the brand image, The sonata is as dear or dearer than a 380 or Camry. This car would not be cheap with all these features
