does anyone ehre know anything about them?
got a Ford (we think) 3500 backhoe at work in dire need of TLC before it gets put back to work, and was wondering if anyone here can tell me anything about them

The only one i could put you onto is Barrosa machinery in Adelaide ask for Keith he is pretty cluey whith Ford Tractors

we used to have one but not with the backhoe, only an industrial loader. it was a good old grunter and was easy to get parts, up until the converter in the semi auto trans shat itself. after that it was straight to the wreakers as its impossible to get the parts for the semi auto transmission. apart from that its all easy to get ford 3000/4000 range parts and the engines will run forever just like the ford tractors do (we had approx 6 over the years).

Sheesh I spent some time on these tractors..
The cylinder walls can be porous but sleeving them fixed any issues and last forever.. With front end loader they need power steering!!! One of ours didn't!! Trust me you didn't need to go to gym after driving for some time...

lol this one has power steering, about half a turn of slop in it, but it works!
questions: 1: any idea how old it is? 2: neg/positive earth? 3: whats the pedal on the floor behind the accelerator pedal for? 4: im guessing the lever on the left side of the gearbox is for the PTO.... right?

it should be a mid seventies model from a quick glance. the pedal on the right should be the diff lock and the lever on the right will be the pto. im sure it should be neg earth as normal. also if its only 2wd check the front axle and pivot bearings as these are known to flog out due to excessive weight.

It will possibly have a "live drive" clutch as in two stage at very bottom for PTO... The lever on right of seat could be for hydraulic control.. Yes the one on transaxle is to lock diff.. Some have it as foot lever under brakes... On top would be foot accelerator....
There should be separate hydraulic levers for 3 point linkage and front end loader etc...

3 point linkage isnt fitted, PTO is (might be setting that up to drive an A/C compressor though)
i'll get a couple of pics of what pedals/levers we dont know about
