Just got my Regostration Renewal in the mail today.
Price is $575.40 This is $15 more than last year and $30 more than 2 years ago. This is robbery at the highest level. It is a few we all have to pay and the state government just continues to increase. Were will it stop? In ten years I will be paying $850 to drive on our terrible roads.

Joel, our cars would be in the 600's in Qld. It also depends on your suburb. I paid $532.50 here in Melton in December.

The registration is even made worse as I have two hobby cars driven minimally during the year, that also costs over $500 each to register each year. Club reg is useless to me. Really believe that the insurance part of registration (the majority of the cost)should be on a mileage basis somehow, or better still, part of the cost of the drivers licence rather than stuck onto the registration. I know I cant drive three cars at once, and no-one else drives them at all. After all the responsibilty for insurance should be on the driver, not the car. |

The majority of the Vic rego is TAC insurance. You own four cars, you pay four lots of TAC ... how many of those cars can you drive at the same time??? TAC should be yearly on your licence, that way you are still covered, no matter what car or motor bike your driving! Keep rego fee's low that way ....Isn't the Government supposed to "help" the battlers. .... I think not ... It's all to do with MONEY!!!!

I'd need to double check, but I have a feeling that rego costs in QLD actually went down last year...

CTPs rose last year by $25? I remember there was an ad campaign about it.
My rego (CTP + RTA) just cost $985. I was considering purchasing a cheap car so my wife can learn to drive but rego is just far too much. |

I am just outside Sydney metro ... so it is much cheaper than Eastern Creek prices (where i used to live).
I just paid for the Territory a few days prior to Xmas Day. Rego (inc. $480 custom plates) = $773 ($293 just for rego) CTP (NRMA) = $294 All up $1064 a year. The work ute is less due to different plates. (But they are $140 a year as they are Personalised = $340 a year cheaper) ... but rego and CTP is the same as it is within the same weight class at the Territory.

It is sad to note that the Authorities in some states need such extortionate prices annually to keep a custom plate on the car. There are no ongoing admin costs to keep them on the computer. I sympathise with my interstate brothers on this count.
