New Bosch Platinum plugs

Hey people

seen em today they are 130$ Bosh platinum, Bosch Fusion 90$, they also have new motorsport leads which are 90$, im sceptical at the moment anyone tried them? they look weird as i couldnt see the electrode on the tip off the plug, its like all white, some new tech?

I wouldnt pay $130 dollars for plugs even if they were made from solid gold.

Sound like a big waste of money to me. Plugs are plugs they all wear out and should be replaced at regular intervals.

actually they come with a 5 year warranty/100.000km's warranty so they must be half decent

They are great for things like a 351 in an xp, or V6 Magna's, or anything else where it is hard to access the plugs. To fork out this sort of cash on a set of plugs for an I6 AU would make no sense.

I have to agree... Recently faced with needing to replace my platinum plugs I opted for some standard jobbies. They work rather much better.

Lucky you don't drive an AU V8 then, that's what is specified for them.

i have to agree here ... I pulled my Iridiums out as they were degrading.
I put in NGK R's and gapped them down more (for LPG) ... and they are much better.

I know I will need to replace them more often ... but at 1/3 the price of the Iridiums (actually less than that) ... I'd rather change them a little more often.

Makes me check over everything in the engine bay more often (apart from the monthly oil changes I do already).

get some NGK's, half the price and much better, Bosch are crap.i wouldn't let em near my car.

I agree, NGK's FTMFW. I have used them on all my past cars and they have never let me down.

Seems to me like the general consensus here is to just get good replacements for an I6 (NGK R's) or if you have the V8's then perhaps go the Iridiums etc.

Sorry to hijack your thread JoesAu BUT For the guys with LPG I6 Au's, what type of plugs are you using?

On my AUII EGAS ... I used to use the Iridiums ... but they were expensive.
I have gone back to NGK Rs and gapped them down to 0.8mm ... so far so good ... will replace them a little more often than the Iridiums ... but will still be cheaper in the long run ... I'll make a note how long the NGK R's last in the work ute and compare to the Iridiums.

EDIT: I put the NGK Rs in at 246,000km ... and I am now at 260,000km. That's 14,000km so far on them ... no issues yet.

Thats awesome range mate. top stuff. I know with this car I recently bought Im due for a service soon, and was tossing up whether or not to get iridiums, but frankly I dont see the point unless access was an issue. My subaru is a to get to with plugs so I ended up getting the iridiums for that to save hassle. Dont dont see the reason for Iridiums on the falcon now its a peice of to get to.

Knowing this now, I reckon come service time, I'll get NKG R's, upgrade the leads to something a bit more beefier, get the gas tuned and also a trans service. Nothing overly special but at least I know the car wont have any excuses for lack of spark. (unless there is coil issues) fingers crossed. So far so good.

there rubbish leads, i will never buy topgun again, just bought myself a set of hurricane leads, there so much better, they click on easy, the build quality is strong, sposed to be the best you can buy a for i6. 90$.

what about other brands? eagle, slpitfire, bosch? Are they any good?

I use Queensland Spiral Core Ignition leads 9.0mm.
