Default What do you think of this bonnet?

My mates uncle custom welded some bits from an XB GT coupe (I think it was XB, can't remember) onto his AU bonnet

I think it looks pretty nice, what u guys reckon?

Pretty small pic (from my phone)

Big pics would help ALOT and paint as it looks to be in primer?

From what i can 4see it should look okay when painted in my opinion.

There's only two things wrong with this.

1. it's been done before and it doesn't look quite right

2. Your uncle is an idiot for cutting up a genuine steel XB GT bonnet :

Cheers

I saw a AU Fairmont in Richmond today with it ... and it looked like total crap.

Probably because of the following:

a) was on a stock as a rock Fairmont
b) needed sanding and painting
c) cos it just looked like total crap.

1. I agree, it looks a little lobsided or something

2. Not my uncle, it's a mates uncle and i actually asked him tonight about the XB, he said it was a writeoff apparently. They're worth something like 100k in excellent condition i believe!

i have just got hold of a spare au bonnet with thoughts of doing this same thing- but on a hi-series bonnet. just looking for a xb-c bonnet now.

as for the comments about cutting up the bonnet- it's just a xb-c bonnet....just coz it's got the flutes doesn't make it a gt bonnet- they were also available on xc fairmonts, 500's, cobras etc. besides you can use a damaged one, you just need the centre section.

I don't think there are too many fans of his kits and I'm not one of them.
I just posted the link to show there are far worse things you could do then fix XB vents to an AU bonnet.
