Default AU Radio Power Output

Hi all, I've got a quick q, without having to go to all the trouble of pulling my Factory headunit out to find the power output of the radio, does anyone know what it should be. I've done a search here and looked in the techincal section but haven't found anything as yet.

My model is the AU Series 1 XR8, it has a 6 stacker under the passenger seat and is the AM/FM casette type, it also has 4 speakers.

I'm thinking its in the area of 4 x 25 watts but maybe wrong, if anyone has one lying around could you have a look on the back to see if its stamped there.

Cheers.

The speakers are only rated at about 8w, so I doubt it would be 4 x 25.

the thing is that the rating of head units is always peak power, and thus 25w peak about 8watts rms.

Yeah the only spot i've seen a rating on them was in sales brochures etc. where they say 100 watt sound system, for the standard falcon and 250watt prestige etc, which is cause of the amp in boot.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I'm looking to upgrade the headunit and I just wanted to make sure I'm spending the money on something thats going to make a bit difference, like 4x45 or 4x50watts. I've upgraded the front speakers and the rear ones are in the processed of being upgraded too, along with a heavier cable to the rears as the ford speaker cable is really quite poor for anything else apart from the factory speakers.
Cheers

I've upgraded to a JVC KD-BT1 head unit and the difference in sound quality is certainly a good ammount better.

you will notice a difference bundy

the standard headunit not only has a small amplifier in it..
it also has a small decoder etc etc..
so the sound comes out ordinary to begin with

once upgraded to an aftermarket deck (of decent quality)
then you will notice a definate increase in sound quality and how"loud" it can go while remaining clear even with stock speakers
