Default Good deal?

Hi all,
just thought I'd share a deal I have come across that I am considering buying.
XE ford, with 351 cleveland, c4, stall conv, 4 wheel disc brakes, Lowered suspension, running on full LPG, car is in parts but complete. Has had all major rust work cut and welded out with just a little surface rust coming up in 3 spots. very straight body.
Needs to be painted and put back together but otherwise very little else.
Car started easily and blew absolutely no smoke at all and sounded solid.
What do you think?
I wasn't really after another project but could be a good side one from my XP,
oh and the price is well under $2k

Also does anyone know what the fuel consumption would be like on full LPG for an auto 351?
thanks
jason

Not sure if this was right thread but here it is anyway!

Best value if the car is an original 351, if not you are still getting a lot for your money. I always prefer a car in original spec but that's just me.

I paid $450 for a 1979 ZJ with 351 and LPG but it was in need of cosmetic restoration.

If its a good goer, and it looks neat enough, I would buy it and sit it in the back of the shed under a tarp. 351 XE's are not the most common ford V8, and in 1982 the XE was the car ford ended the cleveland V8 program with.
Mabye make it an ESP mock up.... they look great when they are tidy and original.

the price Sounds about right too me, alot of work needed by the sounds of it. Fuel consumption would be pretty good if its LPG only.

If it's well under 2k, seems like a no brainer to me. Even if it did turn out to be a dud I'm sure you could get your money back on it. A bit of work and you'll have a nice V8 running on gas.

My XD 351 would go through a tank of LPG in around 200km. They will absolutely gulp it down, but it will be cheap to fill so its ok. Back when I had it back in the late 90's it would only cost me $20 to fill, those were the days.

Thanks for feedback. I am hoping toget it for around $1500- but it is complete with a few extras.
Also has thermo fans, velour interior (good nic), mags, sports exhaust etc.
Car is basically only needing paint then re-assembly.
I don't think it is original 351 as it has compliance plate for engine and LPG.
Even in parts it looks pretty good.
Will see what happens in next week.
I figure I could get more back on parts if I had to sell it anyway!

if you dont buy it ill add it to my 2... lol
like said before, even if its a nugget, a v8 xe is hard to find for sale... theyre around, but not many for sale or driving...
sounds exactly like mine except mine was togwether when i bought it, 3 little rust spots... i only paid 500 for mine, weiht nice straight body, set up for clevo, i already had motor so it didnt matter...
once theyre running and registered they sell for a few grand... if theyre in good nic even more...
