Default A sad end (AU1) @Pickles.

Apologies if this is a re-post, but this AU (resting in pieces) at Pickles in Melb looks awfully familiar to me but I can't recall from where, was it on e-bay recently or was it an FF members pride & joy?
Whatever the case, someone's put a lot of work into it & it's a sad ending I think.
Looking at the RH quarter damage (on Pickles website) it ain't going to be a re-builder.

A little bit of scratchx and an applicator pad will take care of that.

Almost looks like its been completely submerged in water, looks like a small dent on the roof, and damage all over, maybe been battered by trees as it was submerged?

LOL!

Although I wouldn't put vents in either of my AU bonnets, they did have a pretty good look about them.

Sad end for an individual AU.

"up for grabs here is a 1999 Ford AU custom xr6 look a like. Now this car was a stock standard forte when I brought it, I have had all the work done to get it to how it is now to a cost of well over $10,000. This car was built purely for the looks and has been cruised not abused. "

Yes.

It's still a repairable write off, isn't it?

I've seen worse damaged cars come back on the road, but being an older AU, it will probably end up a parts car.

It would only be a financially viable project if it sells for @$1500-2000, but given the rails will be bent, will need skirts, RHR quarter & door, front bar, bonnet? + the fact it's only a 6 & has a few Ks on the clock would probably signal it's demise, even as a parts car it really doesn't offer a lot other than interior.
I will probably be there when it goes to auction on Tuesday (looking at BA/F's) so I'll report back with a sale price should it sell.

The_Dok,

Agreed mate. Replacing rear quarters or rails isn't cheap. If you get a chance keep an eye out for prices on BA/BF XR6 and XR6Ts. I might head out to Fowles on Wednesday.

Last time I was at Pickles, I couldn't believe what a rip some of the prices were though. The auctioneer demanded that bidders pay more, by saying 'sorry guys we want more for this car'. It's supposed to be an auction :

Saw:

2007 BFII XR6 - $15,000 - had minor panel/bumper damage.
2004 BA XR8 - $9000 - had some damage to the front rails.
2005 BA SR - $6000 - missing wheels and some vandal damage.

Ok will do, as you know my mate's chasing a BA/F so the last few weeks we've either been to Pickles or watched Pickles Live (highly recommended) but have been disappointed with Fowles lack of decent damaged stock.

I really can't believe someone paid $350 for a burnt out VL SL - 6 Cylinder, at Pickles today, with nothing salvageable left on it.

Most people seem to forget that, even though if a car sells for a 'cheapish' price, they still have to pay GST and the processing fee on top of the sale price, which usually drives the price up a considerable amount. You can buy decent 2nd hand cars in the trading post for less.

Some just have no idea. Anyone contemplating buying a damaged car from the auctions should read the below link first:

http://www.ivic.com.au/auctions.htm

---

BA XR8 (stolen recovered - missing bars, bonnet, ICC, etc) - $13,000
BF XR6 (major damage to rear, repairable write off) - $6500
AU XR8 Ute (repairable write off) - $4200

It's related to the topic, no need to be pedantic about it. I added a price of an AU in there anyway.

Wonder what the car in this thread went for.
