Looks like a mushed up Fiesta, hope it sells well!
Perfect time for Ford to bring in another small, European car. Should sell like hot cakes if they can get enough over to our side of the planet. Hopefuly theres a diesel in the line up. EDIT!: Turns out it's a photoshop! :togo: Quote:

I think it looks like 'a wee little ripper!'
Also, the Fiat 500 which is waaaay overpriced ($22,990 entry level with a 1.2L petrol) and this upcoming Ford Ka actually share the same chassis etc. Difference is the Fiat looks retro and the Ford looks very modern. Oh and the Ford will be $10k cheaper... I bet some of the uninformed media will still think the Ford is overpriced and the Fiat great value for an 'icon'. Would love for this Ka to sell at 500/month or thereabouts. Would be a terrific 2nd car or city runabout.

If I were in the market for a new small car, that Ford would be at the top of my list!

If it looks anything like that, and is keenly priced, it will sell like hotcakes!

If the KA is made, then what position does that leave the Fiesta in? It seems to me that Ford is churning out alot of cars that are only going to end up competing with each other.

Yes the Ka is still sold in the UK, and has a solid reputation as a good reliable car. This like the Smart Fortwo, Fiat 500 and Toyota Aygo (not sold here) are all members of the A grade size category of cars, whereas Fiesta and competitors, (Jazz, Yaris, Mazda 2 etc) are all in the B grade size category.
For the Ka to be sold successfully in Oz, it would have to be priced from under 13K to keep it from cannabalising Fiesta sales. If it is sold for under 13K it will sell really well, however getting it under the 13K mark and still remaining profitable will be th real trick, and the question to whether or not it will be sold here.

confusion, confusion, confusion. this was shown in the british car mags as the new fiesta (verve) and now they're calling it the ka.
personally i don't like it at all and as you have said, it looks like a pug, yaris, fiat or micra. when the ka was launched in this country in 1996, it was an iconic design. where you either loved it or hate it. now i feel ford have missed it big, big time. and as regards to supplying it in australia. you are at the mometn paying three times as much for the parts in your country as it is over here. i have shipped ka parts to port elliot from the uk and even with postage, the outlay is very reasonable. if the ka does take up in aus. (and it could with all these increasing fuel prices and engine limitations.) i'm going to start an import/export business on ka parts. |

This Kinetic thing I'm really starting to get pi55ed off with... very unoriginal of them to make it appear like a Peugeot/Yaris...

There is no business plan for the Ford Ka in Aus, the only import they are considering is the Kuga - and as far i as know, its been given the green light for early 2009.

i think ford should feel worried about the launch of their two new cars and hope that they meet customer demands and offer a different engine capacity instead of the two present one's (1300 or 1600). the pugs, toyota's, astra's and citreon's offer a far varied engine option deal.

about the Kuga, I had assumed that would have been the Escape replacement, but the Escape new model is being released very shortly... so there will potentially be 2 mid sized SUV's correct?
oh yeah, cool looking Jaffa there oh, i mean the Ka. Can definitely see a bit of Fiat in it. TBH though I believe that it will live in the shadow of the Fiat 500 here in Aus, as it seems the fiat has a niche chic market with its styling/branding, already lol.
