Default Steering Wheel Stereo Control

My stereo control on the steering wheel is stuffing up and I want change them. Will a second hand one from ebay/wreckers work? Do I need to code them or anything?

But more importantly how do I remove the old one and install a new one?

Cheers

Provided they're in working condition, they'll work

No, remove old ones and replace with ebay/wrecker ones.

You'll have to remove to airbag for access to them. Therein lies a story.

JC's post here: http://tinyurl.com/5hrlao will get you underway for airbag removal.

Good luck with it.

Most likely problem is the ribbon cable connecting the switches in the wheel to the column, this happened in my AU, from memory about $125 from ford for the replacement, be careful not to pull the pin when installing or it will all come unwound. you will need to remove the air bag and wheel to get to this part

The Vol + button doesnt work properly. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. So I took out the plastic bits but while taking them out they snapped. I super glued them back and tried putting it back in but they keep snapped again. I might just go to the wreckers and hopefully buy the plastic bits because its going to be a pain removing the steering wheel.
But how on earth do I get the plastic bits in and out without snapping them?
