263km/h... Must have been the high performance Autobarn cable ties, possibly the pretty coloured ones

Used to know someone with an escort with similar repairs. I think there was specific colour codes for differnet repairs. e.g. black - suspension, red - engine components, blue - interior etc

Spent that day at the race track?
He wouldn’t have passed tech inspection for most club days unless he was at an open practice day with very lenient rules.

Alot of people in drifting hold the bumpers and side skirts on with cable ties. That way if you clip something/someone the cable ties break and drop the bumper as a single unit meaning it doesn't get destroyed.

i bet you all it was, was the bumpers held on with cable ties so yeah if you crash the cable ties break first and not your bumper

There was something in a newspaper a while ago about unroadworthy vehicles with milk crates & umbrellas holding up back rests on seats, vice grips in place of steering wheels etc could have been one of those

These dropkicks complain because Police pick on them and they should have somewhere to race their cars.
So he goes to a racetrack for the day and still has to do 263kays on a public road. He should do gaol time for this especially considering the condition his car was in.

Maybe its a typo ... 263km/h seems quite fast for a 200SX and I doubt they'd have let him go. That kinda of speed would get you arrested.

Sounds like he was at Wakefield Park; you used to be able to rock up there and race what you brought without any scruitineering during the week; You also had to share the track with other users. I've been up there a couple of times, and there was no checking done to any of my or my mates cars.

-Cable ties used for Drifting, secure the bars to cars, not the "body"
-No rear seat? Oh no, cars must have a rear seat? -Tires in the back of the car? Whats wrong with that? -Smells like fuel, pfft, lots of cars do! Stupid media and their misleading accounts.

I have heard from a mate of the guy that he had been practicing drifting at Wakefield park.
the car is a highly modified 200SX running a RB26 (GTR) motor and was not unroadworthy. As people have mentioned the cableties hold the bodykit on, but that was it. Shows how the cops and media like to beatup the "Turbo Nissan". While his speed was inexcuseable, the reports stink of "hoon bashing" just to sensationalise the headlines.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the cable ties theory... ok, you nudge something and the cable tie breaks and drops your front bar, so what magically saves the bar after you run the thing over?

The bumper is usually nudged from the leading edge of the car and hinges on the trailing edge zip-tie. In essence they usually hinge like a door on your car and then snap off and get left behind. Quote:
Tires in the back of the car/Smells like fuel -- If I'm not mistaken, the 200SX is a hatch back. So space is a premium. No rear seats = more space for spares and tools. Also, if he was at a race track like described then you have to put your spare fuel somewhere.

263 on a public road, one that the missus and I use a lot no less, is beyond comprehension. That is beyond logical comprehension and my true feelings about that cannot be posted due to swearing filters.
Keep it at the track like the rest of us.
