I'm gonna replace the drivers side door handle with a passenger one just for extra security and plus it looks cool. Anyone know how much these are from ford? and if they already come painted in the color of ya car?

Brent, I would get one from the wreckers, much cheaper and either way you will have to repaint them Silhouette.

Don't know ford's price but my replacement handle cost $10 from FTG salvage. Then got it painted for free through insurance
Cheers

I was going to do this a while back, but was put off by not wanting to muck around putting a system in place for if/when I get a flat battery and am locked out. Have you got any plans or just going to chance it?

Backup if the battery goes flat is the RACV.
Jammie had his car like this for a long while and as he said, as long as your mindful to change the remote battery when it starts to die then you shouldn't have a problem. This is why i changed both my remote batteries when i did this. Worst case though, if it does die i'll just get the RACV to come and break into the car as i'm pretty sure i get a few free for being a member. Cheers

Hey mate sounds like an interesting idea i assume u just chuck on a passenger side door handle to remove teh lock hole for a cleaner look and harder to break into? is it as simple as just taking out the old door handle and fitting the new one?

Handle needs to be drivers side rear, and yeah cleaner and harder to break into to.
I thought they were as simple as plug and play, but after getting the car back from the panel beaters with it fited there was a stray rod (from the old handle lock to the striker plate) that was still there. Removed that and all is sweet now. |

Pic of the back of my old handle which is still lying around here. Arrows point to the two bolts. It also shows the extra rod that needs to be removed
