I once worked with a guy who bought a Starion Turbo and filled it with oil because the oil gauge would not go over halfway. Obviously the gauge was pressure and not level.... Anyways eventually the thing spat oil everywhere and burnt out all the electronics with the hot oil etc. Expensive lesson :-)

the thing i am wondering if anyone has actually tried to do it in real life. one my brothers mates put water in his oil and ran it with no water or coolant in the radiator lasted 2 blocks from memory. I only remember this because we has to put the new head on. my brother told him to put more water in because it was leaking fairly bad. we lived 5 blocks away lol all over a split heater hose.

My little brother thought he would be save money and do his own servicing on a 1982 laser (in 1983). He looked in the manual and saw it needed whatever litres of oil so he bought the correct amount from a servo. He drained the oil and then added the new stuff and then took off on a 300km drive home.
About 10km along the car stank of oil which he thought must have been normal after an oil change. At about 100km the car kept jumping out of 5th so he used 4th and then 3rd. Next day we discover he had drained the gearbox and over filled the sump. Funny they wouldn't fix it under warranty..... |

Idiots do serve a good purpose then. entertainment for ordinary people. Theres also the guy who tried to drain all the oil out his engine by running it. Any others I should be laughing at?
