Hey guys, my trans on the fairlane is really annoying me, klunks and stuff alot and doesn't drive as well as it should on up shifting to third.
I am however able to get my hands on a really tight xr6 HP adaptive shift trans from my brother, now i wanted to know if there is anyone who has put that XR trans on a non-XR vct engine. Are there any issues with it all or will they just bolt straight in? Im asking because i heard the adaptive shift module is external from the trans and thus the fairlane wont have it... is that at all correct or not? Both trans are series one if thats matters.... Cheers Alex |

pretty sure adaptive shift is just programmed into the ecu, as far as then physical trans goes they are all the same...

Im pretty sure that as above the adaptive shift is programmed into the ECU and there is no real difference in the trans. If there is it would be the solenoids to allow it to shift harder.

adapt-a-shift is ECU.
All AU's have the same 4 speed AUTO, if it's in better shape than yours then yes swap it. |

You'll have a tighter transmission but alas no Adaptive Shift strategy as that's an electronic thing external to the BTR 'box.
I did try the programming as in mine in an NU Fairlane out of curiosity too, once. Hence only the once.
