Hi All,
I have a question does anyone know i'f the MSD coil packs(Part No. 8421) or the Accel #110-140018 off a 1998 explorer will fit and work on my AU2 XR8 200kw? I am aware that part of the XR8's motor was sourced from them, but am unsure if they have the clips on the spark plug leads. |

Mate the MSD 8421 are the coils you need. If you are changing coils, you may as well change your leads too. Send a PM to BOTTLEDUP, who will be able to help you out with some top quality MSD leads.
They look great too.

Peuty is correct and the MSD ones are actually a lot cheaper than the Motorcraft OEM ones from Ford.
Peuty you didn't need to use those spacers either.

Just be aware that JEGS and Summit may charge you an 'overseas transaction fee' (whatever that means) which can be up to $30. Also your bank may charge you for a foreign currency transfer.
Not trying to talk you out of it, but sometimes things work out more expensive than you originally plan. |

To use the shiny hex head bolt that came with it I did. The thread wasn't long enough on the bolt without them.

Another MSD user here and can highly recommend them. Rocket carry the MSD gear in Aus, any Autobarn can get the coils in for you.

I don;t believe there is one - had to be custom made.
And the person who did them no longer does anymore

Can I get them from the states or are they only to suit distributor systems?

I have been researching this myself over the last few days and I'm very keen to get some myself.
I have found sets in the states which would need modifying at the spark plug end which wouldn't be to big a problem as the connections and insulator boots are readily available, the only risk would be the physical length of the cables. Here is a couple of links to what I have found, the second one would require two sets. Have done the research and they both connect to coil packs MSD 8241. http://www.jegs.com/i/MSD-Ignition/1...oductId=745346 http://www.jegs.com/i/MSD-Ignition/1...oductId=745346 If anyone else has gone down this road and had major difficulties let me know. MSD dont actually sell 'off the shelf' leads to suit anything other than US cars and from what I gather their range in those is fairly limited too. They more sell the gear needed to manufacture sets to suit whatever the application is.

*threadmine*
are upgraded leads required or just a pretty add-on? Can i just put MSD packs on, and hope for the best? plugs are only 20,000KM old and leads look ok. Packs are shagged.

New leads will never hurt. The MSD's are fantastic leads.
