Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) today celebrated its fifth year of production with the release of the FPV 5th Anniversary model at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney.
"In only five short years, FPV has grown to become an icon in Australian performance motoring," said FPV General Manager Rod Barrett. "In recognition of this milestone we are launching a vehicle which will ensure this tradition continues." With only 200 units available, the FPV 5th Anniversary will join an iconic stable of collector's vehicles, including the 40th Anniversary GT and the Cobra. Featuring a new 19-inch multi-spoke Alloy wheel design in Alpine Silver, the FPV 5th Anniversary is also equipped with a premium 6-piston Brembo brake package. Available in Lightning Strike or Silhouette with a unique 5th Anniversary striping package, the 5th Anniversary also features an original rear decal. The traditional sports seats are finished in Nudo Leather as standard with a 5th Anniversary logo embossed into the front headrests. Unique 5th Anniversary floor mats also feature along with an exclusive build badge number mounted on the centre console. The FPV 5th Anniversary features all the luxuries expected from an FPV, including dual-zone temperature control air conditioning, a sports leather steering wheel with cruise control mounted switches, power front and rear windows, alloy pedal covers and a premium audio system with six-disc in-dash CD with iPod** integration. The FPV 5th Anniversary offers over $9,600^ worth of additional features for a premium of only $5,300 over the Recommended Retail Price of an FPV GT sedan. The Recommended Retail Price for the FPV 5th Anniversary is $71,890* This pricing reflects $4,353^ of net customer value for the FPV 5th Anniversary Limited Edition.

FPV only ever seems to give the car unique 19" wheels which will end up after market within a few weeks anyway, special logo's and a different type of interior. They never actually do anything to make it a special car other than cosmetic.

^^^^^^ Second that.
do something special instead of just crap cosmetics. Make it a little harder for a regular GT or heaven forbid a stock XT to replicate. Oh and a sillycharger as well.

Looking at the pics on the FPV site, those are the wheels the GT-E should have got. The multi-spoke wheels would suit the luxury theme more than the 5 spokers that look the same as the GT's.

Those new wheels will end up on the GT-E in a different shade (probably shadow chrome) in the near future.
Special editions are never going to be more than a sticker special. Best wait to the next update of the range to build up any anticipation. |

It is a bit on the weak side, but im liking those wheels!! For that price it's pretty good I reckon. You get the "special edition" stuff for half price.
If I was in the market for a GT I'd definately put that extra few grand in for that!

should have supercharged it or something...how is it a special edition if most of the stuff you get can be optioned up(apart from the stickers and embroidery and wheels)...a waste i reckon...

It's what I would expect from an anniversary special.
Don't forget that HSV's recent anniversary model was just a badge and decals tart up. Leave the supercharger for the GT-HO. |

At least they did something. Rather than the large 5th Anniversary statement on the side of the vehicle I would have personally prefered they left the GT logo and used the 5th Anniversary designed 'crest' flanked on the front guard instead. http://www.fpv.com.au/index.aspx
Any decent media photo's Russ?

My thinking is that it represents great value for money to a new car buyer, which is probably who Ford are targeting, not the loyal Ford performance enthusiasts with our high expectations. They just want to move cars and the real passionates inside FPV had no money or approval to do anything more adventurous.

To be honest, I would feel like a t*ss*r if I drove around in an anniversary special of any car (including the GT 40th).
Having said that, I don't mind the look of it. The leather seats, bigger brakes, and new wheels make it a semi-attractive proposition. |

Looks ok. I'm surprised they didn't just paint a set of gt wheels a different colour like they normally do. |

me. I'll go buy a FPV tomorow an F6 310. Then I'm going down to the holden dealer (or wherever) to get one of those windscreen Holden stickers.
I'm gonna stick that on my F6 310 and call it my F6 special by Holden. It'll be a one off, much better than those 200 that FPV can do. If I'm lucky I might do 2 more then it'll be more collectable than a phase IV. To highlight the power of the holden windscreen sticker I'm gonna put an extra 0 on the 310 and a red stripe underneath the 3100. 3100 beats 310 everytime. Otherwise the car will be standard. I'm then going to market it at a major car show and release a statement saying its collektable and a sure fire way to get some moolah. And a day later I'm going to accuse the Ford faithful that bag it, a bunch of pussies, and then wonder why the regular range doesn't sell. Transalation: Holden markets its cars better, and leverages the "high performance" of the special commodores so that even the basic one has that halo about it. Funnily enough they got it from a car maker who used a similar strategy in the late 60's and early 70s' That manufacturer was Ford. Not until they start marketing the car on its merits or build the mongrel to end all mongel falcons will this change. Sad fact is that the next falcon will probably be that in badge only, because the tools at campbellfield didn't put up a fight. <end rant> |

It was the 100 year anniversary that Ford US built something as special as the modern Ford GT - yet everyone wants one of those for only five years, albeit in a Falcon/FPV shell. It's FPV we're talking about don't forget! :alien2:

Why bother then? Why not wait till say 10 years is up (if they make it that long) or 20 then release something worthwhile. It took Ford 100 years to release the GT but it was worth the wait.

1. Budget
2. Budget 3. Budget 4. Sales Looks nice by the way. People like owning something that is a one off, special, limited build etc and they will pay. I.e. Cobra.

Just another 200 FG GTs to clog up the dealerships even further. They'll have to start parking them on the roads around the dealers soon as the FG FPVs aren't moving and this won't help. |

HSV are doing the same thing by the way, 2 sticker specials before Xmas, i bet both Brands move their "specials" quicker than regular stock though.
