Default The Sleeper

Anyone like the idea of a performance based model of the falcon even the f6 or GT called the sleeper.
Now it has a fancy sleeper engine cover...modest power upgrades...no bagdes...unique options both standard an extra so that from the inside theres no mistake. Just brain storming and i think it could almost work hahaha.....no seriously...thoughts??

I highly doubt it'd take off - most people want people to know what they have.

Personally, I love sleepers, but then appealing to a tiny percentage of new car buyers is not how you make money!

This is unfortunately why the old 3V V8 XT/ Fairmont is dead, only appealed to a select few especially now with such a good 6 standard. A shame really, i could really go for something like an XT with a XR8 V8 or turbo 6

I was gonna say that I already own a sleeper.

A 3V with full exhaust, good CAI and flash tune makes almost as much power as a bog stock GT but with much more grunt down low. They really aren't as gutless as everyone makes out.

But 1TUFFUTE; as far as an optioned up sleeper goes auslandau is right, that's what the GT-E (and previous Force models) is all about. For the consumer who wants the performance in a sleek package without the boy racer looks.

And for the turbo driver the Ford have G6E-T.

I don't think enough people are aware how quick a G6E-T is. Looks like a luxury sedan until you unleash the throttle and next thing you are gone.

Dam straight, i took one for a drive two weeks ago, it's an amazing car all round.
The performance from a stock factory model blew me away.

Would I be right to assume it's almost as quick as a BF Typhoon?

Someone posted an 12.89 in a G6ET at WSID.

Not sure about the BF Typhoon, the only one i have been in was highly modified and quicker than nearly everything

The turbo motor in the xr and g6e is a carry over from the BF fpv's. However some small differences in parts etc. There are people on here that would know for certain.

Not quite the same motor,i think the fpv i6T's are built stronger, and the fg g6eT and xr6T's have a smaller turbo which runs a bit more boost...Pretty sure it comes on boost earlier in the rpm range...No lag at all.

The g6eT is very much a sleeper,it's actually quicker down the choute than a f6...But you could put that down to tyres, and a softer sprung rear end.

12.8...executive express :

Asked a few questions and I was told that it is the same motor except for a smaller turbo on higher boost and different valves. The smaller turbo is so you don't get as much of a turbo rush, i.e Inexperienced drivers may grab a fistfull of throttle and next thing they know they are in someones front yard.

my old man bought a phase 3 with delete option stripes. just looked like a falcon with a shaker and bonnet pins ( he removed the front spoiler and the rear wing was delivered in the boot!). He even had o towbar fitted.

definite sleeper

he still has the globes that ford sent out to him in 72, but won't do anything with them

Goes further than that, there's quite a bit of difference between a BF F6 and an FG XR6T, especially in the inlet tract in terms of piping and manifolding. Smaller turbo is used to reduce lag, but it actually makes more boost than the BF F6.
