What a difference, i finally put my cat on yesterday, i was thinking that my standard cat was getting to be a big restriction, starting to block up. So i bought a Stainless Steel inside and out 200Cpsi cat.
So yesterday i went to a mates work to weld it up, pulled my standard one off to find it has alot of metal dags on the inside where it was welded, so i measured the internal diameter and was only 40mm, the rest of the cat was 50mm internal, now its 65mm all the way. It has made the car so much smoother to drive and doesnt run out of breath up top and i found a little bit of low end torque. It now has the "bite" in the note which sounds good, nice and quiet on the freeway and nice grumble at idle. I didnt expect that much from the cat. But it doesnt crackle when slowing down which i thought it would |

the place i bought it off said its either a magnaflow or... cant remember the name, they said their the same quality but they will send whatever is in stock at the time. 180 is a pretty good price though i thought. My exhaust has never crackled when backing off :( except when its in cold mode, pops like crazy when letting the clutch out from 3rd-2nd.
ive noticed a massive decrease in under bonnet temp to, it was like opening an oven door, now its like opening a bonnet. does the design of muffler make the crackle? i only have a single straight through centre muffler, no hot dog or resi but still doesnt crackle Good luck with the S/C blueoval, i want to fit the raptor kit too! |

My AU's just ticked over 200K and i'm looking to upgrade the exhaust......i've read a lot of posts that say the standard cat is fine, but if mine's all blocked I figure might as well get hi-flow with rest of exhaust.......

At 200K, I'd change it anyway. Got nothing to lose.

from what ive heard about cats, i lost low end power, and torque. and the underbonnet heat was massive. so i just bit the bullet and put one on. It also felt a bit "breathless" up top, it had no problems reving just the power died off at the top. |

great info
As the cat is the major restictor it'd be worth doing on a a stock setup I guess |
