Default I Dis-Like Kangaroos

Well Froudey hit a god damn roo. will post pics up tomorrow.

i was coming back from newy after a short day trip and 5:30 this arvo driving between Merriwa and Dunedoo outta no were BANG a bloody roo. rang insurance and will go from there so maybe i will have a nice new shiny shiny front end for the all ford day on the 31st.

it damaged the xr6's inner lights smashed, grille area smashed, drivers head light all the tabs are broken, bonnet is kafucted and condenser is dented but no leaks. so now i got to pay an excess of 550 but i suppose it isn't all bad if i got to pay that as the front ends are pricy..

He explained that he would replace most of the front apart from the low beams as they seemd intact. told me he would have to respray the guards a tad to blend all the new paint work in.

so yeah next week she should be going to get repaired.
so MY car is getting fixed and should be ready next week, by john lile smash repairs in Dubbo. You remember them mainly Jay and his 1968 XT Falcon that was featured in "Street Fords Present POWER special"

So it will be done right the first time, they all ready have the front end bare considering i only dropped it off wednesday morn.

As long as you are Ok mate that's all that matters. Didnt think it was a big roo as they basically can write off a car!

Ouch...I am feeling your pain. I know exactly what it is like to hit a roo...looks like your car was hit in a similar spot to ours...We needed to replace, bonnet, grille, spotlights.

Hope you get it fixed quickly and yes, the main thing is that you are okay. Cars can be replaced...but you can't.

At least you are ok. That's the main thing. Cars and their parts can be replaced. It looks like you got off fairly well actually, with not a lot of damage. It could have been a lot worse. Roo's tend to make a make a huge mess of a front end (especially the big ones) and sometimes they can even end up hitting the windscreen or going through it!
At least you'll get a shiny new front out of it.

Sorry to see your car look that way

i remember when i hit a roo it hit so low on the car that we thought we hit a wambat

it done a heapmore damage to the car than what you received but the bright side is that you walked away I have seen/heard of to many people injured when hitting a roo

Good to hear your ok mate.

Speaking of roos, my partners old man test drives cars for a living. Heading down the hume to return a new VRX magna a roo jumped out in front and wrecked the frontend but it was still driveable. Not sure what mitsu said when he returned the test car :

So long as you ended up better off than the kangaroo you really cant complain. He's dead and you only have a minor ding. I never get upset about the car at times like that. It's only plastic/metal/paint and isn't alive. But I do get excited when I miss one

Consider yourself lucky, You got off really lite.
Most people are not lucky enough to drive away.

Apparently a NRMA study done a few years ago found that the Central West has the highest rate of write offs due to Roo strikes than another other region in the state.

One of my mates is a towie out that way, so i hear about theses things.
And get to see some interesting wrecks...
If Roos aren't killing cars, then the drivers are. And themselves sometimes unfortunately.

It'll buff... sorry won't go there.
Roos don't do as much damage as a pig!
Spend $6000 on Ebay and you'll have the front replicated in no time...

I've hit four roos, three within site of my house, lucky they were low speed, not the kinda damage you copped. Hope it comes up like new for you.

I was asleep in the passenger seat when my brother hit a wombat in a TE Cortina. Woke me up quick smart. Luckily he'd swerved enough to run over only it's head, only damage was a cup washer on the shock turned inside-out.

You were lucky there that the roo didn't bounce or go through the windscreen.

Without sounding mundane, I've hit a wombat. Some scary stuff there.

Didn't see him in bad fog (less than 100 metres vision) at 2am.
Luckily I hit him with the center of the vehicle. Otherwise it would have shot me into trees either side of the road.

It is sad when things like this happen, but it's a case of "it's you or the animal".

It's amazing too how time seems to slow down when you are about to hit something and you know there is nothing you can do to stop it...well that how it was for us when we hit our oversized mouse...could see it hopping, couldn't swerve, braked hard and gave our tyres sever flat spots..But what else can you do??

Lucky you didn't have more damage. Here's my NF after I hit a mid sized roo at 100kpm. You can just see it on the road in the top left of the pic in the background.

There was a set of Lightforce 240s' on the front that took the full force and just exploded into fragments on impact and soaked up most of the force. The rest doesn't look too bad but it was still enough to write off the car. Bonnet, bumber, radiator support panel pushed back 1". Car was still perfectly drivable but cost of repair was more than market value. I was told $5k to replace the radiator support panel .

Bugger fellas, they're some un-nice pics to add to the dis-like of kangaroos.
I had my first kangaroo experience whilst driving last week, thankfully a new set of QFM pads to go along with my twin-pot calipers managed to do the trick. Scared me however.

Also, Froudey, Leave it as is! Looks tough that way...
