Default 3v options.

Sorry if this is a lame question.
I have been looking through here for a while searching for threads on mods for the 5.4lt 3v engine.
Tomorrow my dad picks up an '04 BA LTD with the 3v in it and one of the first things he asked me was how can we improve the note and the economy of the thing.
Never having owned one of these I started searching but haven't found any answers (I may be just looking in the wrong places : )

Looking into exhaust and possibly a tune for it.
can anyone point me in the right direction, I'm totally at a loss.

Cheers,
Matty
