Just a reminder to all that it's on tonight 7.30 on SBS. Hope it's better than the first series.

Trust me, it is.
I was at the filming for this one. Ralli-Art Lancer v. 135i, Some Lamborghini, Star in the Car is Mark (Big Nose) Skaife. Not the best, but loads better than the original.

Unless of course you can name a better show that has the above... I can't wait, imaging how good this show will be in 12 seasons times which is how long some other similar shows have been running. |

TG has been around for ages, proven formula and they duff it. A true indication is your partner. Shes not into cars at all but will sit through TG UK no worries. AUS version comes on and even she is bagging it (not so much the format but the presenters), if they drop another "aussie slang" word again ill go mad. It was embarrassing watching it. Just get the UK guys to drive our cars, they went to America so Aus cant be that hard; instead they sold the rights to make some cash on the side and so far have devalued the brand. Where there cars? Well yes, not hard to get them. Where Aussie cars show cased? As above, but done in a style that only bogans will relate to. If thats the only criteria for success no wonder it bombed.

I'm not a hard marker, it was fine.
I suppose you' be happier watching some European mini-series with English subtitles then, or Master Chef at 7:30pm... I know I wouldn't. Some people are hard to please. |

Well yes we aren't exactly spoiled for choice that's for sure. The problem I had was that even for a car enthusiast it was hard to watch because it typified everything that we are stereotyped with. Apparently the only way to test a car is by doing donuts and stand stills, while drifting and spinning out all the time. (dont get me wrong I love a bit of a fang like anyone else).
I guess it can only get better, and perhaps being to easily pleased promotes mediocrity. :

EPISODE 1 - Monday 11 May at 7.30pm
Tonight catch the return of Top Gear Australia as Warren Brown and Steve Pizzati are joined by new co-host, James Morrison, for a whole lot of motoring antics, all new challenges, new segments, the latest car reviews and Stars in a Bog Standard Car from 7.30pm on SBS. In the opening jam-packed episode the high-octane capers resume when Warren and James are teamed against Steve in a race to test the fastest motoring option on the eve of a long weekend. For Steve it’s one of the most expensive cars available in Australia — the new Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 worth a whopping $800,000. For Warren and James — it’s something a little more compact…and personal. Australian motor racing great, Mark Skaife shows his fierce competitive streak when he puts everything on the line for top honours as the Star in a Bog Standard Car. The lads decide to quell the rumours and prove, at their own peril, that the Top Gear Australia Stig is a fair dinkum, true blue Aussie and they unveil a new segment that sees the hosts making a hilarious attempt to recreate a well-known television car commercial in the studio. Watch Warren Brown, Steve Pizzati and James Morrison for your weekly dose of motoring entertainment, Mondays at 7.30pm on SBS from May 11. To check out a sneak peek of episode one click here.

I'd really like to see the aussie stig use bathurst as the test track or maybe another race track this way the cars tested can be matched up against race cars lap times. The crappy airport or whatever it was last time round really didn't seem to offer alot of the cars a chance to showcase what they had.

Not sure how many you would need but couldn't a deal be reached to use cameras set up for a V8 supercar race? Also keep in mind they don't need to film a lap every week just show one on the show so a large number of laps could be done in various cars in one go / day making it more viable would also help with similar conditions for the cars to compete in. |

For the third episode (which is about making their own utes, after opening with a '34 Ford Ute), they had a Hail Storm in the middle of the taping. Morrison was walking around, with the other three, and talking to the audience. I managed to have a long chat with him about Touring, his love of cars, and his Citroen C6. The Three hosts are genuinely nice people, and get along well, unlike the three from last year.

I'll watch it whatever its like, becuase its a car show. Yes, last series was an embarrasment and I'm happier to watch C7s "Chrome" which is a Shannons infomercial, but so much better than TGA S1.
I can't believe that the shows on C31, "Gasolene", "Oz Garage" "Cruzin" and "Classic Resto's" that are made with zero budget are so much better than something with a huge budget? Please, please be better than series 1! |

Also, the track is set up so the differnt aspects of a car can be tested properly, ie. corners that provoke understeer/oversteer etc. Having a short track will keep the lap times between each car close too.

If you compare it to the uk show its doomed , cant compete with that.
Its still a good show and its about cars. Thats the main thing for me . So far james morrison has been a breath of fresh air. |

Better than the first series. Trampoline bit was funny I thought. The race between the jetski and lambo didnt do it for me though.
How annoying was that freaking Holden ad?!? I dont care what manufacturer it was for they should be shot
