hmmm, sounds like the blind leading the stupid.
One, he should have bought a Skyline/Lancer/Anyriceburner if he wanted umpteen tachos. Two, if you don't know how to do it then you should leave his car alone. Sorry if I sound a bit harsh but I see this exercise ending in disaster for the two of you. |

To the OP - does he want a tacho (as you've said, he's already got one), or does he want a shift light (I'm betting his is auto, so why would he need one??). Either way, nothing looks worse on a late model auto that comes with a tacho than another tacho!

i think theyre talking about those humungous tachos that have a shift light attached to them... please, for the respect of the blue oval, tell him if hes not planning to rev it over 7000rpm, stop him lol

Gee some of you guys are harsh, Im looking at getting a shift light in my car, but not a whole Tacho (yet to really look into it).
When Im racing, and I have an auto, yes, I kind of dont like staring at the dash till I change gears, only to miss it like usual, change to late and have bounce of the 6200 limiter a couple of times. It would be handy for me to find out where I have to shift at at WOT so that it changes right before my limiter, and have it set a that, for eg: Limiter is set at 6200, set shift light at 5750. when I shift into second, at 5750, by the time it changes, Ill be doing 6150.

thats a practical use of a shiftlight... i dont think in this case he is going to be doing it for that i think the au tacho is perfectly easy to read tho well in the end it is his car...

Youll find the tacho doesnt actually keep up either in high power combos on the au, and its worth running the good tacho.

A good aftermarket tacho would be better at relaying a more consistent RPM reading.
