Default body kit or no bodykit

Ok guys I need you guys opinion on whether to body kit my car or not. There has been many a discussion as to whether or not it will kill the 'sleeper' appeal or not.

My initial idea for my car was to do under bonnet mods and keep the outside looking fairly basic. But since I have got the 18s and the rear bootlip, the rest of the car looks kinda average in my opinion and in someway doesnt really match. But Id like others opinions.

Please vote and perhaps give me an explanation or suggestions to what would be best.

Fairmont kit

what sort of body kit you looking at. Seen some sick looking kits on AU's. Probably not worth it if you want to have "stealth"

I'd go bodykit Shav...

Your colour looks awesome with a kit..

It will change the whole stance of the car giving it a lower, fatter stance..

I don't think it will detract form the sleeper look, as you won't be going over-board with huge bars and wings...

I think with those wheels and bootlip spoiler, your car is screaming for a kit..

i don't think you'll be disappointed with a kit...

DO IT!!!!

Fairmont front lip with the SII XR side skirts and rear lip.

That way you still get the sleek kit but retain the sleeper look too.

Go the S3 Fairmont lip kit! It will go off perfectly with your colour!.

Or even the S2 XR Kit.

But go a kit ;) it won't ruin the Stealth look, it will enhance it!.

Or what RG said!. ... But don't go the full XR kit with the lights and everthing. Ew

But it's not a sleeper, deffinalty shav :P

The Fairmont kit FTW IMO - it's so beautifully understated & classy!!! And it won't be too over the top. If I ever went down this path, I'd be getting a S2/3 Fairmont Kit as well...

It's not an XR car, so don't do the XR kit!!! Keep it's identity, don't go creating a hybrid monster!!!

As a few have mentioned already, I think the word you are looking for now is 'sleek' rather than 'stealth'.......but the fairmont kit is tops.

I vote the fairmont kit, its going to look "nice" but still keep it looking sleeperish. Do it!

Dont go XR kit...

Exactly. Its these sort of imbred monsters that are dragging down the good, classy, futuristic look and reputation of the AU Falcon.

Sure, some are done well (JC's old wagon) but the vast majority aren't.

You two do realise that having the SII XR side skirts and rear skirt was actually an option for some non-XR's that quite a few chose from factory don't you??

Please keep in mind fellas that I already have the factory fitted side skirts. If I can get something that will compliments these as well as the bootlip spoiler I already have, that would be beneficial.

I realise some have said that the XR side skirts would look the goods, but unless I HAVE to do it, I wont.

Has ANYONE got the fairmont rear bar addition fitted to their cars already?

Yes, but the vast majority of the public doesn't and just sees a XR clone.
Same story with the commodore of the time, you could get a real nice HoldenByDesign bodykit on your VX but everyone just thought you had mocked up a exec as a clubsport which is incredibly uncool.

I really dont want to be known as a copy cat. Does anyone here see me as that now?

Ive got nothing against people putting XR kits on fortes/futura's, but that isnt me. Id much rather attempt a milder approach.

But Im not sure if Im overdoing it.

You wouldn't be Shav....it would look nice - just look at the first picture (with the fairmont front lip) - think about how nice your car (and your car colour) would look with that on!! Smooth!!!!

Nobody see's you as that shav!

And there's no way that you would be copying anybody.! ... I didn't mean that like oh what would I do do it as in like copying. I mean like I wouldn't do something to my car that would look poxy or out of place!. That is the only kit that I'd put on my car Shav. ... If I wouldn't put it on my car I wouldn't tell you to either Shav.

Exactly! If every AU owner did this, they'd be one classy fleet of cars...
So it matters what others think now does it? So what if people think you are "uncool" for having that HBD kit, not that I can recall that actually being the case. Also to the "vast majority" the AU is uncool anyway so what would it matter if an XR kit was added to a non-XR?

If people got upset and had their decisions of cars made by what others thought were "cool" & "uncool" then no one would be driving ex-taxi's either...

Shav just go with what you prefer the look of, not what people here think you should prefer.

that is the same kit. :togo: aside from the front bar/lip

anyway, ive got that kit on my car, bar the front lip because i kind of damaged the front skirt when fitting it.... it didnt fit real good...

and it looks awesome.

however, it doesnt make the rear look any lower, if anything it might make it look higher at the rear, however still looks awesome. check my build thread for pics.

the Series 2 XR/Fairmont S2/3 skirts are different to the ones that you have fitted already and match up with the front and rear skirts a lot better.
