To those who we'rent old enough to experience these cars live, or those who dont understand where our premier category came from or even those of the turbo "fast n furious" era who don't understand the hype around V8 touringcar racing YOU NEED to see these cars in action to truely appreciate why we have the cars we see racing today.

Im old enough to remember seeing the Tru Blu and Greens tuf Falcons, Dad took me to Sandown to watch them in the 80's, simply awesome and part of my love for all things V8 was etched in my mind forever because of it.

Norm, we have alot to thank your dad for but we also have a lot to be peeved about. Mainly that he brought you back from Sandown. lol. Yes the sights and sounds of distant thunder, brings back heaps of memories mate, best one i have is the Thompson brothers little red colt on the drag strip at calder, drag racing in the late '70's and circuit racing at hume weir watching Norm Beechey in his mad creations.

Personally I think that this is going to way 100000 times better than the A1 GP cars could've ever been.

I hope someone is there with a video cammera and puts it on youtube or something.
Thanks to that show 'late night legends' that use to be on SBS, I have been able to see some great raceing with these cars in it, not as good as being there though. If only I was born 20 years earlier.

I just hope Channel 7 does a decent job of covering the whole weekend including the legendary V8's. I hope they dont just cover the V8 Supercars then listen to Neil Crompton inflate his ego walking around the pits big-noting himself while the older cars are on the track. :

Dan, that's amazing news. We all owe you and your family a huge debt for restoring and maintaining an incredible collection of motor racing history. I can remember in the late 70-early 80's when you could watch these cars at Sandown along the horse racing track on the back straight. My friends and I used to sit right where the cars pulled top gear. Incredible! Now if only we could get some coupes out there!

Default Historic Sandown - 6th to 8th November

Some of these type of cars will be running at Sandown on 6th to 8th November.

Details here:

http://www.vhrr.com/forum/showthread.php?t=453

If you are going to go, drop around the pits and look for a Red/White Formula Ford # 11, and I'll make you a cup of crappy coffee.

A bit of an update for you all. I am part of the team that is making this great weekend happen and it has certainly been a hectic few days!

Confirmed drivers for the Bowdens cars are:-

Kevin Bartlett
Dick Johnson
Steve Johnson
John French
Colin Bond
Jim Richards
James Brock
Dan Bowden
Chris Bowden

Glenn Seton & Bob Morris will be there too. Glenn is running his fathers Capri and Bob will drive the Chanell 7 Breville A9X Torana.

It is gearing up to be a great event! There will be free entry to the pits and also a couple of autograph signing sessions over the weekend. Come and check it out and say hello if you are at the track.

Cheers
John
