I wonder if Holden are regretting not updating the VE styling as, the most important change in Commodore's history, doesn't look big enough?!

Falcon up & Commodore down & only a gap of 641, things are changing!! I wonder if they take the Wagon sales out, then maybe the Falcon sedan may have out sold Commodore for the first time in ages (years??) |

The Cruze is a good car, better then the Focus. You'd be an idiot not to consider it when purchasing a small car.

Only defence holden has was the change over from old V6 to new SIDI with lots of customers waiting i guess.. Their sales include wagon aswell, but so does ford with the BFIII hacks.

All the people I know who have brought a Cruze are authoritatively inapt.

Whether you agree with them or not All the people that I have spoken to that have bought the Cruze absolutely love them. PS: I cannot understand how they sell so many Corolla's and it looks like Holden's lack of exterior and interior changes on the Commodore is backfiring. |

Note that is PACKAGE and PRICING. 4 out of 5 buyers in that market buy on how much they get for how much - in essence, VALUE. Now I am a EuroFord kind of guy and would easily buy a Focus over the rest but thats just me and i value things like handling and driving dynamics over whether or not its a couple grand less or has iPod connectivity. New Focus arrives in 2011 and will be a world beater.. just dont beat yourselves up over petty sales for now - honestly guys Ford is making a profit, delivering fantastic cars to the showroom floor and pricing them well - who gives a flying fish if they dont outsell Holden? after all, you can still buy the Focus if you want.. no one is forcing you otherwise. Enjoy your day |

If you added Ute sales to both GMH Commodore and Ford Falcon, then they would be 1 & 2 respectively. Personally, i think alot of the 'gloss' which is all it ever was really, of the VE is wearing thin. It has now been offered with engines and an auto that should've been there from the start. So by mechanically upgrading it alone, GMH have done what Ford did with the BF. Although Ford did do some styling tweaks. Both VE & BF suffered against the more recent design. I think it's only saving grace has been the wagon. Otherwise more would look elsewhere. Holden buyers are accustomed to getting tweaks every year to differentiate. Now they've had the same for 3 1/2years. Will be interesting to see what the first full month of SIDI sales do. Certainly the ball is in their court as 2800-2900 Falcon sales a month seems to be their capacity (along with 1000 Territory & 1000 Utes).

Falcon getting quite close to Commodore but why is the gap between Ford and Holden growing? Cant be purely Cruze as Astra, Viva were around the same.

Focus will be in real trouble next month. CRUZE gets a 1.6 turbo motor.

So they include the Hilux, which is a commercial vehicle and not a car, but dont include Ute sales in the Falcon or Commodore sales?

Is it just me or are new cars just getting uglier by the day?
I went around the local car dealers the other day just having a browse and practically everything I saw was just plain ugly! How Toyota sell anything (let alone so many) of it's current range is just beyond me? That Corolla and it's smaller sibling the Yaris are just disgusting looking things up close. The Mazda 3 as well looks like some strange alien space craft that's just landed with it's big bulging bumpers and tail lights, goofy smiley grille and strange guards. I honestly think Ford have probably the best range of available vehicles overall, I'm not overly a fan of the new Fiesta, but it is growing on me slowly ... the new FG Falcon is a beautiful bit of work, very nice indeed ... how the Commodore outsells it defies belief. The "best looking car" I saw though was the new Kia Cerato, particularly it's 2 door variant the Koup .. very nice indeed. If awards were given for looks alone this Koup thing would sweep the pool. |
