Default Best place for headers/exhaust system??

Seeing as i just got a $2600 tax return :

I am now looking into getting some headers/extractors + a 2.5" Cat Back for my AU Series 1.

Just a couple questions:

1. What should i be looking at paying for both + labour? (Would rather get both done at the same time)

2. Should i go the 4499's?

3. Where are some good place(s) around Sydney to head to

I got the car about 5 months ago, and i am pretty sure that it has had no mods done at all

From reading the forum, it seems majority say redback single 2.5" + 4499's are the go

Just wondering what a decent price would be for those both fitted?

You should be paying around 1200ish with a cat as well.

Castle Hill Exhaust Centre

$506 for headers (4499's) Fitting $150

$300 high flow cat supplied and fitted

Cat Back $440 for system, supplied and fitted. Red Back used 90% of the time.

Total $1396

Total without Highflow Cat $1100

The impression that ive got is that unless your going to work your engine more then there is no need to change your current cat (unless it is already a rust bucket) :

That price is about right. With the cat, if its still on the original cat, probably best to get it changed anyway.

Zhodak got his system which is the same as above, but to suit IRS, done in pricey Canberra for $1150 supplied and fitted from Tuggeranong Mufflers - you should be able to do a bit better than that in Sydney/Melbourne etc. If I were in Sydney, I'd be calling in on Liverpool exhausts.

I was told its dearer for the exhaust if its live axle.
Man was I ripped off
$1366.00 ---> 2.5 exhaust mandrel bent mild steel, they charged me $180.00 for the stainless steel tip. pacemakers with original xr6 cat.
oh well i got it done in cairns so i guess freight made it dearer :(
It also has a 'hotdog' as part of it, is this really needed?

IRS should be more as the piping is "odd" shaped. Hotdog is needed on an auto to stop that annoying drone at 60 or 100 that can happen.
