Well just spent a couple of hours putting some superlow Kings in. I already had Lovell lows so wasnt expecting a massive drop. I dont mind the height of it but the rear still doesnt look right. The wheel just doesnt fill that arch at all and looks tiny.
Now I dont want to put ultralows in the rear because I've seen other cars and it doesnt look right. Just need a bigger diameter wheel. Anyone have the same issue? Bit hard to see from that pic |

maybe if you go 18s with fat rubber, say 245s, should fill it up nicely

Interesting thread, i've picked up some kings SL for the rear and was hoping they would do the trick, im running IRS (fairmont ghia) which is the same setup as yours so hopefully it will be a bit lower but let us know if they "bed in" so to speak

Give them at least 2 weeks before you make a final decision.

No offence but "springs bedding in" is one of the biggest wives tales. I've lowered a lot of cars, mine and mates and seen other lower theres and they never go lower after initial fitment. What is there to bed in?

Within 1-2 weeks the springs will drop a further 5-10mm as a guestimate. Give it a few weeks and put some weight in the back before making any decisions. I've lowered plenty of cars too. Each brand will settle differently. Kings don't change much due to how stiff they are. Pedders tend to settle more.

i put in king SL's all round on mine and im not happy with the ride height.
when i get around to it ill be putting ultra lows in the rear, i think this problems is mainly for IRS cars, coz ive seen SL in non IRS AU's and they look lower.

They WILL settle - if they are new. If already used then they will not. This is just the natural way of things - new springs ALWAYS settle, and two weeks is a good time to allow, but it is distance/use not time that is the real factor. One night of 500km on a country road will see them settle pretty quickly LOL.
Fitting 19s is not going to alter the gap under the wheel arch. Unless you go for a non-standard diameter wheel in which case you will be upping your gearing and causing yourself more problems like speedo showing too slow and auto not changing properly and possibly lack of accelleration as well as increased fuel consumption. |

Speaking of superlows, has anyone had the need to get the front guards rolled?

Peuty it depends on the rubber you use. I've caught mine a couple of times.

Rather than start a new thread I feel this is an appropriate time to ask, I've discussed this with Mr Hardware who says the front should be lower than the rear for drivability and safety. FYI its a fairmont ghia (VCT 6 not the 8 :( ) Now I've got superlows with shortened shocks for the rear however I was going to just put lows on standard shocks in the front so that it would sit level.
My question is will this combo of superlows for the back and lows for the front make the rear sag too much and cause safety issues? Or should I just go with what windsor220 did and throw superlows all round? |

Thanks fellas. Cant recall if i beat the dunnydoor or not.
I'm with grandpa, unfortunately SSL on the rear sit just a little too low when matched with SL up front for my taste. |

I've seem my fair share of (albeit) commodore drivers with the **** end sitting lower than your grandmothers panties at a swingers bingo night , but analogies aside, surely that cannot be safe. Appreciate the advice! Can't wait till the weekend, shall pick the springs up on Wednesday : |
