Default New clutch cost- AU Manual?

Hi guys,
As indicated in a previous post my clutch is up for renewal. I have an AU XR6 ute (5 speed), however I havent been able to get any solid quotes as the places all seem to want to strip the old one out first before quoting (wonder why).
Has anyone replaced the clutch in their AU falcon of any type, and if so, can you tell me a rough estimate of your expense? I'd appreciate it.

I think when i got mine changed it was about $550 including exedy heavy duty clutch and labour. Somewhere around that. But i did have some other work on my car done too, so it may be less. Don't remember if that was total cost or just clutch.

Factor in the cost of either machining the flywheel or replacing it altogether as well.

Give Xtreme (site sponsor) a call they should be able to give you a ball park figure of a complete kit . I run a Xtreme HD Organic and have had no problems with either on the street or strip and the pedal is lighter than the OEM

i had a exedy standard replacement clutch kit and a few other little peices that looked worn done for just under $700 at "ABS Brakes"(inc clutch kit, labour and a few other bearing that they recommended) i wouldnt bother getting heavy duty, the standard replacemt feels alot better than the original and realistically i dont think clutch slipping is an issue for most manual AUs, the bigger problem is cracking firewalls etc...which the heavy clutch would more than likely cause...

Cheers Cam

Quote from ford:

Genuine fitted = $1650
Non-genuine = $1250

WTF is with their prices? I knew it would be a rort, but this seems excessive even for them.

Thanks a lot guys, I won't be doing it myself given my lack of experience with them, so won't be buying parts separately. I got a quote for an exedy XR6 clutch (apparently heavier than the standard 6 item- without being heavy duty) at $790 fitted. I'd say thats what I'll be doing.
