Default Largest wheel on a Mk1 Capri

Hey folks, just wondering what's the biggest wheel size combo to go under a "non mini tubbed" standard Mk1 Capri rear end. I'm thinking about either 15" Convo Pro wheels or even a 17" mini lite/Watanabe style that I could get from the guys I got my Z wheels from in the US, speaking of which what is the PCD and offset?? If it's a 114.3x4 then I could get them landed drilled and powder coated if anyone else is interested, otherwise I'd get them undrilled and have them tapped here.

Also the standard rear offset, like I said if they are similar to the early Zs then I could get them for a very good price ready to fit.

im not to sure on the proper offset, but Escorts are about 12p - 24p, so it'll be something similar to that.
stud pattern is 108x4

I emailed the fella in the US this morning so I'll see what he comes back with on the PCD.

well I had 16x7 simmonds (F9's i think they were) on my Mk1 Capri, the front guards had been lipped to match RS3100 guards with the rears done to match

the "P" means positive offset, and the number is mm.

so yeah +12mm to +24mm

I run 16/7's aswell. On a falcon stud patern though. U wouldnt get much more than 7" wide with standard guards and tubs. Ive choped a bit of the lip on the rear and the tyres (225/50/16) just clear. Not alot of room to the leaf either.

Ok got the "p" now LOL.

So it seems the options are few for width, I think I managed a 235 on the 14 that's on there at the moment, oh well looks like a mini tub is on the cards then.

I've got the guy that supplied me with these wheels to ask the manufacturer if they can do a 108x4 stud pattern, so waiting to get a word back. In the meantime though was wondering if many or any people would be keen on them, from memory they come in 7,8,8.5,9,9.5 widths, just need to find out offsets as well, can't remember what they were.

They do a +12 17x7.5 and +20 17x8.5, however both in 114.3x4 which is the early Z pattern.

I've got 14X6 Falcon wheels under the back of my Capri.

So the wheels are not that big BUT they are fitted with 235/60 tyres.

My diff is a little narrower than standard and the tyres sidewalls are only about 10mm off contacting the leaf springs but the outside of the tyres are quite well inside the wheel arch.

I really don't think that I could get anything wider under there.

well these are the ones iam putting on my mk.1. capri i hope they will fit 13 x 7 with 0 offset and rubber wize 205 x60 x 13..what you think guys...

What size are they Beau??

I asked a wheel supplier that does the Convos of the biggest size I could get under a standard rear end, he advised 15X8.5 with a 5" backspace and essentially a 255 tyre. Anyway I picked up a pair of Saab steelies and they're currently being redone as an 8" with a 4.5" backspace, a mate is giving me some 26X10s to put on for the track.

I'll let ya'z all know how it goes anyway, I should have the wheels back this week and the tyres on so I'll fit them up and see how it all sits, it's all a bit of research really.

It has a 9 inch pretty close to std length, the rims are 3.5 inch in and 4 inch out, have had 28x10.5 slicks under it

Is this with standard guards? I have to run a 15x6 inch rim with 26/8.5 M/T slicks. That was all I could get to fit with std width diff and std guards.
A wider rim made the bag of the slick rub on the guard. I guess you could get them to fit if you jacked the back right up!

put my brothers 14x8 slotters with 265/50/14 Eagers under mine years ago to work out rim offset and they were pretty tight.
