Default Doors not locking

Hey guys!

Done a search but nothing seems to come up for my issue. My remote system isn't working, with either key fob...no clicking noises, no indicators, nothing.

It means I now can't lock my car. Pushing the button on the dash locks all doors etc, so im confident all the actuators are fine, it just seems like the sensor has gone dead.

Any ideas??

Have you replaced the batteries? Have you pulled open the remote and checked for broken solder joints? Have you tried locking with the key?

Yup fobs both working fine - batteries aren't very old, the led in them lights up strongly. Solders are broken in them, but thats been a long term issue, and has usually only required a jiggle....pretty sure they're working ok atm and its an internal car issue....

Might be a matter of reprogramming them, theres a link for this around somewhere fellas?

If they fail to respond during a reprogramming, then its time for new fobs. 10-20 bucks at a wreckers.

Yeh - although I'm pretty sure the fobs are actually ok...they're both working fine, and have been up until today.

Occasionally the one of the fobs doesn't light up, but resitting the battery and packing with paper works. Now, they are both lighting up, but the car doesn't respond at all.

Lets assume for arguements sake that we rule out faulty fobs....what else??

If its not the fobs, and the car is not responding. Well the RF receiver may not be working, but ive never heard of them malfunctioning.

Id still be VERY thorough in ruling out the fobs, as they are far more prone to screwing up.

Yeh thats why i thought it odd, as lots of threads about actuators and fobs malfunctioning, but im almost 100% certain its not the fobs....even if one suddenly quit working, the likelihood of 2 in one day?

Happy ending - i took the car to etheridge ford to ask their advice, and a most helpful serviceman took 5 mins off a job to come out and check out the issue. First step was to reprogram the fobs for me - which I had tried unsuccessfully for about 40 mins to do last night! And it worked, so it seems a faulty sensor not the issue.

Why it suddenly unprogrammed both keys, we don't know, but its now working so hopefully it stays that way!!

Keep hitting the demist until the doors cycle. It's on and off 3 times in 5 seconds, from memory (6 button presses?).

I have had better success pressing the demister button with a seconds gap e.g. count to one *press* count to 2 *press* etc.
