that's what i thought when first seeing it, except it's not the new honda civic, it's several years old, 2006.

I have to admit that the first time I saw it from a full frontal view it reminded me heavily of a GT. Even Tori answered GT when I asked her what it reminded her of.

I agree. Kia is starting to make good cars - this Koup version is even more handsome than the already nice-looking Cerato.

It's no GT, but it should sell well based on its looks alone.

It's no GT, but the Koreans are getting better at making cars, does resemble a falcon the tiniest bit, but not that much

Who likes the look of Audis ?

The KIA Designer is Peter Schreyer, KIA poached him from Audi !

He is the man who penned the TT.

Speaking of Kia, does anybody remember a certain model of Ford named the 'Festiva', just over a decade ago? I found it quite cheesy that it was actually a KIA manufactured vehicle with a blue oval replacing the 'kia' red oval.

That was a Ford-badged Kia Rio. Kia eventually sold the Rio here themselves, so the Festiva name was dropped by Ford.

If the Koup had a Ford badge I'd SO buy one. As it is now, I'd probably buy one.

That Kia Cerato Koup is a great looking product (in fact Kia's entire range is starting too look pretty funky and a lot more upmarket)

Apparently the Koup's road manners and build quality don't match its looks (and I think thats very unfortunate)

The Festiva was based on the Kia Avella. The Rio was the model that Kia built to replace the Avella.

And a bullet proof car they are as well!

Re the look of the Koup. I think it's a cross between the new Honda City and the 2006ish Civic posted earlier.

The Kia Cerato Koup is quite a nice looking car, and while IMHO it doesn't look like a Falcon GT, it certainly looks good and has come a long way. Korean cars are getting better, and while they still lack the fit and finish of some of their competitors, they are feature packed and in Kia's case are looking great. Putty Hyundai can't style their cars, but Kia is hitting the nail on the head I reckon.

matey, I tried to laugh at that but couldn't...
it hit too close to home with the way things are going, etc

it just worries me that in 5 or 10 years, our falcons will be rebadged cars from Thailand. (Hopefully made by Ford but could go the GM way)...

can anyone confidently say that auto manufacturing will remain in Australia for the short-medium term. (eg: next 50 years)

I doubt it most wouldn't be made in australia now ....falcon included ,we will just never get down to their mas production prices /wages.... so if aussie made is what we want all anyone has to do is stop buying all imported vehicles and make a good business case to ford home that we just want our own car ,then and only then ( never ) will they make that happen.

and me personally well if they can make a capable 4wd that is as high a quality availability as the old fridge makers ( toyota ) then i may buy aussie made .be ready to have 2 vehicles in aus ford and toyota as gm will send themselves broke sooner or later .

in the mean time i will hold on to my old falcon with pride as she slowly rusts away ...but be driving my toyhynisthings ,ford must join real buyers with the vehicle they want ,they are also hopeless following market trend .

and no fezzas lambos or any toy allowed and we can have aussie made once more ( the above comment was fictional and was not intended to offend )
