Q&A on Extractors and spark plugs

greetings all,
i've got a ford AU 2000 series 2 and i'm planning to get extractors within the next two weeks and want the best brand.
lemme know which type i should get

another question do high performance spark plugs make a difference ( the more you pay, the better you get?) anyone noticed a differance?

if you can help and write back it'd be great

Spark plugs, no difference.
Extractors, Pacemaker 4480's.

Pacemakers have a 2 Year Warranty - I have a crack in the collector of my Pacemakers and they said they will replace them no problems...............

You can get cheaper but cant go past the Pacemaker Warranty and the ease of replacement

Mine cracked as well, my exhaust shop fixed it all up though for nothing, as it was a week out of warranty.

aren't the 4499's better for higher rev range , lose of torque down low

i believe its the other way round, 4499s are for low-mid where as 4480s are for higher range

4480 will give you superior torque over the whole rev range, the 4499s are really mainly for gas cars, I really wouldn't bother putting them on anything else over the 4480s you won't be disappointed in them

agree with the 4480 comments. They give power throughout the rev range. The 4499's are for engine bays with limited room as well as engines fitted with lpg systems where the gas converter is in the way, and for those who don't ring the nut out of their engine and want improved low-mid range power.

Pacemaker are a very well know brand and have done the R&D to prove they know what they are talking about.

Spark plugs? just stick with the NGK brand. Best bang for buck plug you can get and good quality. perhaps look at pre-gapping the plugs a little for better burn. Other than that the Iridiums/Bosch 4 and other expensive fandangled plug out there give no extra power. They are only good for tight to reach places where its difficult to keep changing plugs at shorter intervals. You can do many km without losing power and having to keep changing plugs every 10000km etc.

+1 for Pacemakers and go a 2.5inch cat back Redback mandrel-bent exhaust (if you haven't already got one).

Those mods at once will make quite a noticable difference.

ok i got the NGK Spark plugs (BPR5EY-11) for $27 for 6.
i got the reback exhaust will definetly get pacemakers. so does that mean i gotta get pacemaker extractors 4499's, no choice?

my AU does have LPG but i drive on petrol all the time.
Does the LPG Tank weigh alot? and
is it easy to Remove and fit back on or do i need a mechanic?

Post a pic of your engine bay? The 4499s are needed if you have the gas components in the stock LPG location. If not, then go the 4480s.

Then you'll be in the same situation as myself and bigfoot (that's his engine bay btw ).

Either settle for 4499s or find somewhere to move the gas components. Given that this will probably be a street car (?) the 4499s should give good results anyway

being that youre on gas, your spark is actually even more important.

imo, should have gone the iridiums. just set em and forget em.i wont be checking my plugs for the life of ownership now... each to their own though.

IIRC your smaller gap with supercharger is to stop flame blowout under forced induction.

Wider gap (to a point) gives a larger sparkfront to ignite the charge - go too wide and you overload the ign system and missfire or burn out coilpacks.

Yes thay are a heavy lump over your rear axle, drops std suspension about 1"-2" when fitted. From memory realtively easy to remove and refit, but you really need to get recertified when refitted.

No offence but that is as ugly as a hat full of ars holes. Maybe need to paint something pink to complete the spectrum.
Go the 4499's. Theyre $100 or more cheaper than the 4480's, dont stick out as much and the standard heat shield fits on no worries. I doubt the 4480's are worth the extra money and stuff around with the heat shield.

the blue on the rocker cover looks a lot lighter in the pic because of the flash , it looks good in the natural light. i have a darker one that is similar colour to the silicon hoses. IM PUTING ON SOON. maybe then i might get your approval
