Nice buy. I've heard that the side to side shifting of the car inside the truck isn't good on it?
Only one thing for it. Move to VIC.

Yeh dont use rail unless in a container.
I use Ceva or Toll Transport just make sure you get the seller who delivers it to the yard to fill out a properly inspection report noting all damage / scrapes / scratches before it gets loaded. I only get them sent up from Vic to Qld and i havent really had a problem yet, only that they are good at losing cars and taking much longer then they should as they try to fill loads up.

I wouldn't trust anyone with shipping my car. I would get a very trustworthy mate with you and fly over and drive it back, nothing like a good road trip.
If you are worried about the possibility in stone chips and abit of sand see if you can borrow a decent car bra, one that doesn't rub. I've done alot of distance driving and have only one stone chip and that was from city driving.

Its funny how many people baulk at the price of transporting a car...
They've got a $60,000 car and they want to spend about $300.00 to transport it.. As you said - you pay peanuts - you get monkeys...

Did you do a search of the forums? There was/is a guy here who specialises in quality transport of your pride and joy. Seem to recall a thread asking a similar question from about 1-2 yrs ago.

Do yourself a favour - don't use the basic CEVA. I got them to bring my XB Falcon Coupe from Queensland to Ballarat (Vic) a couple of years ago. They have a great system where once you have a booking number you can track the car. Wanted me to get the vendor to drop the car at their depot on a Friday night, when I asked what security was there the guy didn't know so suggested I ring the agent myself. Would you believe they were going to leave an XB Coupe in an open storage yard until Monday morning. I spoke to the guy at the depot and he said to get in in early Monday morning which the bloke I was buying off did. On the website I tracked it Ipwsich - Brisbane on Monday, changed trucks and left Brisbane Tuesday, arrived Melbourne on Thursday. Not bad so far but then it sat in their depot in Melbourne until the following Tuesday night before loading to come to Ballarat early on the Wednesday morning. The guy who bought it to me here was great, he phoned on the Tuesday evening to check that I would be about to take delivery and phoned to say he was running 20 mins late. The car had a couple of minor marks but as I had never seen it in the flesh it was a bit hard to argue as the condition report was pretty vague to say the least. After the truck had left, I went to check the boot area etc and didn't have a boot key or one to the fuel cap so I rang the seller and he said they had definitely been on the key ring with the ignition key. I had three ignition keys but he had only sent one! After a lot of chasing it turned out that they had also shipped an XC Wagon and its latest move had been from Melbourne to Tasmania and apparently my keys were with it and I had the keys to the wagon. Would you believe when CEVA contacted the new owner of the XC wagon, he wouldn't send my keys until he got his. I had to get a locksmith to open the fuel cap and start the car so that i could get it home (must have been turned to off not lock when on the truck - I'd had it delivered to work as I am there all the time). I sent CEVA the bill for the locksmith and to their credit they paid pretty quickly but if I ever did it again I would make sure that it was a specialised door to door service not left lying around in any sotrage yards en route. I think that CEVA have a VIP service but not sure how much better than the basic it would be.

What i was getting at - is i hear of people who have big dollar cars... and then want to pay the cheapest price possible to ship their cars from A-to-B... There generally is a difference between service and quality if one company is charging $300 - and another (or others) are charging $700-$800...

I just used Autotrans and I dropped it at the Sydney depot myself and the guy doing the inspection on arrival was so thorough that the car diagram looked like someone fired a shotgun at it. Any little mark or inperfection was noted. They delivered it 3 days later in Melb all safe and sound. Good result. Their price was in the middle of the other quotes.

Use Allans as mentioned. I have used them before with 100% success, and many others I know have used them to move race and exotic cars around Australia.
Dont even think of any other method. |

I contracted CEVA logistics to freight my van from Adelaide to Newcastle. Although the driver was late, my van came off their truck in exactly the way I left it at the depot. No bugs or crap over it at all! I can't say the same for my car which did the same trip but via rail with myself as a passenger on that heap of a train on the worst journey I have ever had. Lets say it took me months to clean all the finer details of the car from what it received.
