Default whats comes after FG?

fully expect to be slammed for not knowing this, but i honestly have no idea or havent heard anything about what the name of the model after the FG is looking to be called? are they sticking with the "F series" like going from BA-BF... or are they going something completely different?

also, any idea what year this will come into effect? its been a few years since first FG's came in.

We don't know yet. I remember before the BA came out everyone thought it was going to be "AV".

In saying that, apparently a lot of BA parts are stamped with the AV Code.

I just don't understand why they need to move away from the F-Series, Commodore has always run with " V ", it's simplicity and easy to follow.

Or... Maybe they will do what everyone else does now - go by model years (eg: MY15 for any Falcons built in 2014...)

there's the update next year, whether it's FG SERIES 2 or something more original like FH or FM is of interest to me. I'd say it's FG2 but considering the thing's been around for 3 years, I hope they get a new prefix.. like they did with BA/BF

The totally new model in 2015 is anyone's guess, might even start with a totally new letter combo.. FWD has a pretty crap ring to it, let's use that!

Well, FG before very long would run into FJ and so on, I wouldn't think Ford would use a moniker that has already been used by the other team (even if it was 40 years ago)

Found this:

http://motoring.ninemsn.com.au/cars/...ake-xr8s-again

“We're currently in the process of evaluating what the next Falcon will be,” Mr Burela said.

“We need to make the decision by late-2011, early-2012 of what a new Falcon will be, the size of the engine, the packaging, et cetera.”

A replacement for the current FG Falcon is not due until 2016, however Mr Burela isn't worried that the large car market will evaporate before then.

Like Holden did with the Commodore MY2010 - when the SIDI engine comes out the big announcement was MY terminology, no more series 2 etc - until 2011 when the VY series 2 comes out...

Back to the original question, I'd think FH would be better than FG2

^ ER continued into WR, 1R, 2R and up until almost the day before its public reveal, the 'BA' was still expected to be called the 'AV' as mentioned above.

Probably FH or FL (if it isn't FGII) will come next year. Some model codes are still used in conjunction with the 'MY' stuff from what I've seen.

Ford seems to use a new code for each new Falcon model these days so it wouldn't surprise me if the new model in 2015/2016 has a different letter altogether. Having a 'VE' Valiant didn't stop Holden from using that code.

Can't be F.K, it's censored by Ford Forums and we couldn't discuss the new model.

Why not MY14 for a car built in 2014? Makes more sense to me.

Here's a thought - the FG name only came about after Ford decided to drop the Fairmont Ghia name (for G-Series) whilst paying respect to them.

Do you think that if Ford kept the Fairmont + Ghia names that the FG would be a B-series, thanks to the FG only being an 'extensive facelift' according to Ford. So... will the next Falc be a B-series?

Why not? I mean, After Holden effectively "finished" with the V series, they went back to the beginning to "VE" which was originally a valiant model designation.

I think with the Ford jumps in model designations, it will go straight to FR. or FP. After FG II, at the next big model update, where they do a sheet metal update. Ie, ED to EL, AU to BA.

And WTF is this "MY05" "MY10" "MY11" crap? I see it all the time on carsales, & its not a Holden designation. I see it on Aston Martin's, BMW's, Chrysler's, Toyota's, & Saabs, you name it they are using it.

Are all car manufacturers using the same designation now? every car is now a model designation of MY, followed by its year? or that its "MY" car? It just sounds so stupid, eitherway

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Laser

Quote:
The first Lasers went on sale in late 1982 as the BA series, which was identical to the Australian KB Laser. Fuel-injection and a 115 PS turbocharged model were added in July 1983; these variants were never offered for sale outside of Japan.
January 1985 saw the advent of the BF series Laser (KC/KE in other markets). For the first time a Diesel version was offered, as well as a factory 2-door cabriolet, a DOHC 16-valve Sport version, and a potent 140 PS DOHC turbo model with full-time 4WD drivetrain (identical to the contemporary Mazda Familia BFMR). This added up to an extremely convoluted product line, which was later streamlined in 1987 with a mid-life model refresh (KE series in other markets).
The model refresh dropped E-series engines in favour of all-new B-series equivalents, poorer-selling variants were discontinued, and minor changes were made to exterior styling and interior trim.
The BG series of 1989-1994 (KF/KH) went on to be the most popular Laser sold in Japan, with the new "coupe" (liftback) version an instant success. Again, a DOHC turbo model with full-time 4WD was offered as a companion car to the Mazda Familia GT-X, now producing 180 PS (132 kW; 178 hp) from an increased displacement of 1.8 litres.
Unfortunately, all sporting models were discontinued when the FG (KJ/KL) model was released in 1995 in the wake of poor sales and financial returns as Mazda scaled back operations and sought to rearrange market focus. As a result the Laser was renamed Lidea and popularity waned further towards the end of the 1990s, until production of the final BJ (KN/KQ) model ceased at the end of 2002, to be replaced by the imported Ford Focus.
Wow, Ford Australia have very original model codes
