Hi all,

Had a mate give me a genuine ford sat nav module with cradle and antenna cable plus half the wiring loom (he cut the bloody thing in half), i think it will be to much for me to muck around with. Question is im going to sell it, what do you think i can get for it.

Might be worth something as a replacement unit for someone who has a broken one out of warranty.

Don't advertise that you have half the wiring loom though because it just looks suss and no one will buy it in case it's stolen.

Actually, where did your mate say he got it?

Mate actually got it out of a wrecked Gt-p, no bull s@#%, said he was to lazy to take the whole loom out.

If he was too lazy to pull the loom out why didn't he just leave it alone??? He stuffed it now and its probably worthless as such as no one will be able to fit it into a car now, so basically its a paper weight

Tell him to go back to get the rest of the loom, and solder it back together, unless the cops have already recovered the rest of the car.

Cant an honest person go to a wrecker to get some gtp stuff to put on his xr6 turbo, finds the wrecked gtp (with extensive side impact damage) has sat nav, cant get to the wiring due to the damage and so he cuts it.
Why do other people automatically think that its out of a stolen car, do we all live in a untrusting society.

Because people who want to rescue and reuse something take the time to remove it properly with the desire and care one would attribute to such a need for said reuse.

Thieves rarely have the time to spare, so they cut the wires.

Either your mate was a dimwit, or a thief, it would seem.

jj I wouldnt worry too much about justifying where it came from you know the truth so dont worry about a few people who seem to have trust issues( always stems back to a absent father) and are not contributing to the actual question asked.

I would say the onlyl people who would really find it usefull is some one who alredy has the sat nav and wants a spare. Not too sure what price it would fetch but since you got it for free any price is a win

(plus, naturally, the receipt from wrecker confirms it's origin, doesn't it?)

He goes to the wrecker where someone lets him pull stuff out of a GTP???

What wrecker is that??? Never seen GTP's at pick and pay less yet. What was the point of cutting the wires if he was planning to re use it??

Well the solution is easy then, go back to the wrecker and get the rest of the wiring and solder it back together, if it is trapped or damaged go back and get the plugs etc from the other end of the wiring loom, and then make up some jumper wires to join them back together.

Or sell it to me for $50 and give me the location of the wrecker and I will go back and get the rest of the loom.
