Everyone of us has regrets for selling certain cars.
Name you car you regret selling Particular mods Price sold (and when) Why did you regret? I used to own a mint very low km (88,000km) EL fairmont, 5.0 auto, absolutely as new condition, extractors, high flow cats, exhaust, 3.45 diff gears, silver, lowered with 18 inch mesh rims brand new. Fantastic car to drive. Sold $7500 about 2 yrs ago It was like a new car, brilliant low down torque, looked amazing and sounded nice n crispy. Guy got a bargain, i got spooked when fuel prices were hitting $2 per litre and rumoured to hit $3 To make it worse, its pulled up along side me at the lights on two occasions |

since I could pay rent and bills each week I haven't let a buggy go....
Thanks to alot of friends and family I have been able to store them..... I hate depreciation, and after I have suffered the hit I have never been too keen on passing on the 'savings'

My first car, a Bordeux EF Fairmont. Stock as a rock bar the XR8 rims. But she was honest and tough as nails. Traded it for $4500 on an AUII Fairmont Ghia 75th Anniversary Edition back in '07. My one and only regret in life...

My first car XW phase 2 with Cleveland, Brambles red / gold stripes , Hotwires sold it for $7500 in 88 it sold in 04 for $175000..... Lost the copy of Unique cars i saw it in shocked was an understatement .
Had 5 slots on it in the magazine but the rego plates were the same and nothing had been improved at all even the stripe was still faded underneath the fuel cap ! |

Can i start by saying, good to see you back Hulk, it just hasn't been the same logging on and seeing one of your threads locked.... but hey I will bite
In 1989 I had 87' Ford Sierra 1600cc which was imported from South Africa, I purchased it secondhand, put centrelines on it and was so proud to call it my first car. My father said I was mad to pay $13,000 for a first car but hey, I saw it, I loved it and had to have it. Being young and stupid the only mods I did besides the rims and a tint were new rocker arm post after finding the old 4 cylinder didn't like doing top speed for to long and a new front end after crashing it into a post. Waiting for replacement parts on a boat from South Africa and seeing my pride and joy in the driveway for six weeks really made me change the way I drove. I miss that little silver two door and still have a photo on my desk at work of it..... Damn you Toyota for bringing out the Hilux and getting me to sell that beast to go four wheel driving |

Not as classy as some of the cars mentioned but regret selling my XF panelvan. It was my first road car and had alot of sentimental value. When I got it it had a fresh paint job that was straight as, shaved stips and badges, lowered all round, mags and tint. The day I got my L's I drove straight from the RTA to the exhaust shop and had extractors and sports exhaust put on. Over time it copped the usual mods like stereo etc. Being young and dumb and not knowing what I know now I let it run out of rego and sold it off for next to nothing. I am yet to come across an XF pano as tidy as it was.
Found this old video the other day. The day after I got it. http://s88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...yspanelvan.mp4 If I found it again and in the same condition I would do what I could to get it back.

not many people like them but i had a 97 ford probe that i bought in yr11 an worked 35 hours a week and spent every cent on it. did big wheels, lowered, nice exhaust, full custom fiberglass sound system with no rattle even at full ball short shifter and heaps more. traded it in when i got my first BA and got a crappy 4000 for it. drove past the next day and they had 11G's on it.
the worst part of this story is about 18months later i got a call from a mate who had found it in a car park on its roof with everything stripped and then burnt, worst feeling having something you busted your gut for blood, sweat, tears and lots of cursing destroyed when i could have kept it

I shouldn't have sold my XR6 ute, great car. 5 speed manual, venom red, 2.5 inch catback, loved it. I love my new car too but thinking back now, taking out a bigger loan for the XR8 wasn't really needed. Oh well....

My ZB Fairlane project. I really wanted to turn that into something special. But I had nowhere to keep it. It wasnt even a sale, I was forced to have the wreckers take it for nothing :(

Easy, XA GT. Bought for $2500.00 in 1982, sold for $2500.00 in 1984.
Only sold 'cause my wife couldn't drive it. Had the Phase Nodular Iron diff, and Phase long shaft toploader. Would do a genuine 150MPH. Western car - no rust, no shopping trolley dints. Had the delete option, no bonnet blackout. I bloody loved it. What would it be worth now??? |

Hmmm.... I wish I bought that schmick XY 4x4 for 6000- the dealer came to about 500 bucks of what I wanted to pay.
The XY I had wasn't effected by tinworm, so I should have kept that. The MGB could have stayed... Now, I'm hanging onto the Sierra. I'm sure it won't go down in value - it's odometer reading is less than 50k!

Hmmm, nobody I know has posted, im probably lost and wandered over to places I'm not welcome..........
AND I just discovered these slappy face thingos too. But I regret selling my lc 327 chev powered nitrous sniffing 10 second roll caged, gutted out turn key drag car which I got off ebay for 5K from someone who turned out to be a mate indirectly... Ran 13 something off tap and 10s on the bottle. Was yellow, got pics somewhere... think i sold it for 6K offhand when I decided too many projects and not enough time left. Was either that or the twisted up old xa coupe body that used to have a blown 460 in her. It was twisted very bad but I parted with it some years back now....... Ok, I go back to my side of the forum again now |

Thinking in time I will regret selling My little Renault Clio RS182 Cup
Pretty sure (love it or hate it) It will be a classic hot hatch come 15-20 years a la the Peugeot GTi 1.9's. I've been thinking maybe I should pick up a clean one as a barnyard special, and a cheap one as a trackday banger! |

Regret selling my EF XR6. Had it for 13years from new (it was a graduation present to myself after I finished uni and landed my first professional job). Never let me down and was still going strong the day I sold it (of course by then it had full exhaust, cold air, shift kit and suspension mods) to my brother who had been eyeing it off for years. I thought selling it to my brother would mean that it would stay in the family a while longer, but then he goes and trades it in on a 2004 CV8 Monaro!
My new car, a 2008 Subaru 2.5i manual, although a competent ride, gives me no-where near the same satisfaction.
